The Hawks Cay Resort is located on Duck Key in the Florida Keys. It is about 60 miles from Key West and it feels like you are on your own island when you get there. We had a hard time leaving the resort to do anything else!
There are multiple pools at Hawks Cay. Our favorite was the main pool area that looks out over the bay. But we also really enjoyed the pool in the kids club area since we weren’t worried about the kids splashing anyone or screaming too loud! They also have an adults only pool which is all good by us since that means they can head that way if they don’t want to see or hear our kids.
Coral Cay – Kids Club
We aren’t big kids club people since we chose to hang out with our kids when we visit hotels so we don’t utilize the kids club. What we loved about this one is we could go in there with them and go on the playground, play on the astro turf soccer field, play miniature golf, basketball, ping pong, and at the splash pad area. There was so many fun things to do together as a family there!
I had to give a little more then just say the splash pad one time. My kids LOVED it here! It was a great setup for younger kids and they had so much fun going up and down the slides and playing on the pirate ship splash pad!
Right from the resort pier you can get on a small cruise ship and take off to go out on the water and take in a beautiful sunset. It was a great way to end the day and they also had drinks on the cruise ship for us.
When we were there we stayed in a Villa which was a beautiful 2 story townhouse type structure that looked right out over the water. It had 4 balconies, 3 bedrooms and 4 TV’s. We honestly could have spent a whole day just hanging out in the room and sitting out on the balcony with the nice view and ocean breeze.
They also have resort rooms that can sleep up to 5 comfortably. But if you can go for the villa. The villas are a little bit off of the main hotel area where the restaurants and main pool are. But our villa was really close to the Coral Cay Kids Club so that was a big plus!
Hawks Cay has their own dolphins that are kept in the onsite ocean-fed saltwater lagoon. You can choose to either watch them play in the water or decide on a dolphin experience where you can have a hands on experience or learn how to train the dolphins.
We didn’t do any of the experiences but enjoyed standing by the waters edge and watching them play with each other. It seemed like they were putting a show on for us since they would swim right up by the edge and look right at us before speeding away!
Sundance Watersports adds on a variety of water activities that you can do right from the Hawks Cay resort. Things like Parasailing, jet skiing, boat rentals, snorkeling, sunset cruise, segway tours and more.
We really enjoyed the sunset cruise which took us out (right from the pier at the resort) on the water 90 minutes before sunset and provided complimentary beer, soda, wine and water. Then at sunset they do a champagne toast!
I had to pull this one out on it’s own because it is one of the unique really cool things about this resort. Right behind the pool is a saltwater lagoon where you can rent paddle boards and kayaks to go out on nice calm ocean waters. Plus you can but on your snorkel gear and go out to look for fish.
This setting was perfect for younger kids and also meant we didn’t have to leave the resort to go to the beach. Win, win, win!
Are you seeing why you could stay at this resort for days and never have to leave?! If you are in the Keys this is where you should stay.
