Southern Belle Farm: Four Delightful Seasons of Family Fun (Video)

I visited at the beginning of Fall last year and what an amazing experience.

At Southern Belle Farm we taste-tested strawberry ice cream (OMG yum!), watched a pig race, and explored the family fun on the farm. Southern Belle Farm in Henry County is one of the great family-owned farms in Georgia, reaching back three generations!

SOUTHERN BELLE FARM: FOUR DELIGHTFUL SEASONS OF FAMILY FUN

I was amazed to learn about the 40+ activities offered here, so bring the family!  There is fresh produce at the Country Market, the berry patch, barnyard animals, pig races (one of my favorites), a corn maze in the fall, and so much more on this 330-acre working farm.

I’m anxious to visit in every season, and I want you to go, too, so here is a look at what you can expect, no matter what the season, plus a little video we put together from our visits.

STRAWBERRY PICKING IN SPRING

Have you tried the strawberry ice cream at Southern Belle Farm? There is no doubt that it is the best strawberry goodness I have ever put in my mouth! From about April to June, you can explore the 7-acre berry patch of Southern Belle for some of the best strawberry picking in McDonough, Ga. Take home berries, recipes and other farm goodies.

In addition to u- pick strawberries, you’ll see chickens, donkeys, cows and calves, goats, horses and more. On weekends, enjoy other activities like Belle’s Barn, Jumping Pillow, Cow Train, Pedal Cars and a Hayride.

BLUEBERRY AND BLACKBERRY U-PICK IN SUMMER

You pick the prize berries on 2-acres of the vines and bushes. You can also check out the Farm Stand, full of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and other delicious veggies. Enjoy the same animal and farm activities in summer as you did in Spring. One of my favorite little-known activities is the kindness garden. Pick your own sunflowers and zinnias for free – and pass on that kindness to someone else.

PUMPKIN PICKING, CORN MAZES AND PIG RACES IN FALL

Fall is a special time at Southern Belle Farm, with 2-acres set aside for the Southern Belle pumpkin patch, 4-acres of corn maze, and a host of other exciting ways to welcome in the cooler days of fall. The fall season runs from mid-September to early November.

The Southern Belle Farm corn maze changes yearly, with multiple difficulty levels. Those who want the ultimate challenge can bring their flashlights for a romp after sundown.

If you really want to create a memorable fall moment for the family, rent one of the fire pits on the farmland. You pay a fee for the rolling campfire…bring your own hotdogs and s’mores, or pay a small additional fee for Southern Belle Farm to bring the picnic to you.

CHRISTMAS TREE FARM EXCITEMENT IN WINTER

Have you ever skipped Home Depot or Walmart and picked a Christmas tree from a farm? It’s magical…it just adds a new dimension to the holiday experience. Head to Southern Belle Farm and select from the fresh-picked Frasier Fir Christmas trees. They help you shake it and bale it for the ride home. You can also pick out wreaths and greenery, try a few homemade cookies and listen to carolers.

Don’t forget to stop by the Country Market for holiday goodies! Nothing says Christmas quite like Mimi’s homemade cakes, donuts, and sweets!

On weekends guests can visit with Santa. Bring your camera for photos and save time for a hayride. Visits to the farm are free, but some activities (like the Jumping Pillow, the funny Cow Train, and Pedal Carts) are a nominal fee.  Ask about the Winter FunPass to save! There are special activities like the Reindeer Express, Gnome Scavenger Hunt, and ornament making!

NO MATTER WHEN YOU VISIT SOUTHERN BELLE FARMS

Farm Admission includes: Cornfield maze(s), a Hayride over the 330-acre farm, the Cow Train ride, Corn Cannon – 3 shots, Jumping Pillow, Racing Pedal Carts, Giant Tunnel Slide, Kiddie Korral, Corn Box, Rubber Duck Races, meeting  Barnyard Animals, Goat Walk and (my favorite!!!) ….Pig Races.

The Country Market is a must stop for fresh produce and my favorite, MiMi’s Bakery, oh I can just smell the cakes baking! My son raves about Southern Belle’s strawberry preserves, and other jams. They also have delicious cider. My husband always comes away with a bag of the kettle corn too.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT SOUTHERN BELLE FARMS

Can’t get enough of the farm? They also have birthday parties. How much fun would it be to pet the animals, ride on the tractor and bounce on the jumping pillow for your birthday. And let’s not forget all the kids at heart, I mean it would be pretty awesome to do a little wagering on the pig races for an adult gathering don’t you think? Southern Belle Farms is also available as an event venue.
