This past weekend we took the boys to the Silver Comet Trail to ride bikes. The Silver Comet Trail is located 13 miles northwest of Atlanta. It’s free of charge, and travels west through Cobb, Paulding, and Polk counties. Just a few miles from historic downtown Cartersville, Pettit Creek Farms is home to a menagerie of animals to rival a few zoos I have visited. Unlike a traditional zoo however, owners Scott and June Allen have placed most of the animals from different parts of the globe in the same pastures. A glance around any given pasture will show you heart-warming odd animal friends like a baby camel and her best friend, an old goat. The farm is a place where you will actually meet animals instead of just observing them. The Allens have hand-raised many of the animals from birth and are experts in their field.
