Looking for the best birthday cakes in Atlanta, GA for the one you love?
Sometimes making a cake from scratch just isn’t in the cards and you need to pick up a delicious cake for your party. Luckily for Atlantans, there are some great places to get birthday cakes in the city.
Here’s a list of our favorite shops that are dedicated to quality and creativity — and extremely yummy cakes — right here in Atlanta, Georgia!
CAMI CAKES
Cami Cakes has locations in Georgia and Florida and is continuing to grow. Cami Cakes, named for owner Andra Hall’s daughter, specializes in delicious cupcakes, but they make some absolutely fantastic full-sized cakes for birthdays and all occasions.
Like me, Andra Hall’s love of cooking started with an Easy Bake Oven. You can get a 2-layer, 9-inch cake in any flavor currently on the menu, like Banana Cream, Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Key Lime, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream, Pineapple Toasted Coconut and so many, many more.
Cami Cakes can be found at two Georgia locations — in both Smyrna and East Point.
MAE’S BAKERY
Mae’s Bakery makes the most amazing custom cakes. Beth Castro fulfilled her lifelong dream of owning her own bakery with the opening of Mae’s Bakery, named after her daughter. Self-taught, Beth’s passion for delicious treats shows in the high quality of her work.
When you visit to pick up your custom cake from Mae’s, be sure to order a cup of Counter Culture-Chemex Coffee. The by-the-cup, certified organic, Counter Culture coffees at Mae’s Bakery change seasonally.
Mae’s Bakery retail shop is located on Lenox Road in Buckhead.
BEST BIRTHDAY CAKES IN ATLANTA: ALON’S
Winner of several Best of Atlanta awards since 1992, Alon’s is a European-style bakery. They boast flavors like “Chocolate Louise,” named for Alon’s Aunt, which is a rich chocolate cake topped with silky chocolate hazelnut cream. You can even get a Croquembouche at Alon’s — a cone of cream puffs filled with vanilla custard bound together with a caramel cage.
Order a French Macaron Tower, a delicious Opera cake, or a Raspberry Chocolate Mousse to celebrate your next birthday. You won’t regret it.
Alon’s has three locations in the metro Atlanta area — on North Highland Avenue in Atlanta, on Ashford Dunwoody Road, and at Phipps Plaza.
SWEET HUT BAKERY AND CAFE
With multiple locations in and around Atlanta, Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe boasts a unique variety of flavors for their full-sized cakes.
With such deliciousness like Mango Mousse cake, a Pandan cake, a Taro cake (which features the unique taro root, native to southern India and Southeast Asia), or the Matcha Cake, we guarantee a cake from Sweet Hut won’t soon be forgotten.
You won’t be able to resist the fantastic array of reasonably priced buns and treats, both sweet and savory, offered at Sweet Hut when you visit. Sip a little bubble tea while you’re there.
Sweet Hut has five locations in the metro Atlanta area in Doraville, Midtown, Duluth, Lenox Mall, and Marietta.
WHOLE FOODS
With a commitment to high quality ingredients Whole Foods promises products “free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, sweeteners, and hydrogenated fats,” and that goes for their birthday cakes as well.
Check with your favorite metro Atlanta location and ask if they can make you a ¼ or ½ sheet cake. They’re also a great place to find a vegan birthday cake.
ALPINE BAKERY AND TRATTORIA
Alpine Bakery and Trattoria is an amazing place to get amazing cakes. I can promise you — the Coconut Cream Cake is the absolute best, and I request it for every single one of my birthdays!
In addition to the Coconut Cream, you’ll also find flavors like Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse, Death by Chocolate, Carrot Cake, Million Dollar Cake, and so many more. Alpine Bakery makes cakes for both adults and children’s birthdays, as well as special occasion cakes.
Alpine Bakery has locations in both Woodstock and Alpharetta.
PIECE OF CAKE
I asked my fantastic food blogging buddies at the Atlanta Food Bloggers’ Society about their favorite place to get a birthday cake and the overwhelming favorite is Piece Of Cake. Choose from Hummingbird Cake (contains no actual hummingbirds), Red Velvet, Strawberry and so much more.
Piece of Cake has nine locations in metro Atlanta including in Alpharetta, Buckhead, Camp Creek, on Collier Road in Midtown, and in Decatur, Dunwoody, Johns Creek, Kennesaw, and Vinings.
NOTHING BUNDT CAKE
Birthday Cakes don’t have to be layer cake, for a little something different try a beautifully decorated bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
They come in a variety of sizes from tiny to massive, but for a birthday party of up to 20 guests, the 10-inch Bundt cake is perfect. For a larger party, get an 8 inch Bundt cake stacked on top of a 10 inch Bundt cake to serve up to 30 guests.
You’ll find locations in East Point, Tucker, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Douglasville, Kennesaw, Snellville, Alpharetta, McDonough, and Woodstock.
