Escape Room Atlanta: 11+ Gripping & Apocalyptic Escape Room Venues You Must Check Out

WHAT IS AN ESCAPE THE ROOM GAME?

Escape room games are basically mystery games!

In a typical escape room experience, you are locked in a room with anywhere from 2 to 15 players.  You and your team must then find clues inside the room to help you solve the mystery so you can successfully escape!  During your experience, you’ll be solving puzzles, cracking codes, and really testing your skills.  In most cases, you have about 60 minutes to escape.

Escape rooms are fun for date nights, hanging out with friends, and testing your skills, and they make for a good team-building exercise too!

What surprised me most was that it wasn’t just one room — but a series of rooms!  So just as you think you’ve won, you have more clues to solve.

It’s a great time and not as easy as you may think!  For a perfectly creepy escape room in Atlanta, check out our list below.

BREAKOUT ATLANTA (Atlanta and Peachtree Corners)

THE KIDNAPPING

At Breakout Atlanta, The Kidnapping begins with you and your fellow captives waking up handcuffed and blindfolded in a strange room. With nothing but collective brainpower, hidden clues, and 60 minutes on your side, you have to free yourselves before the kidnapper returns.

We’ve heard this is one of the most thrilling escape rooms from start to finish.

Confession: We were too chicken to try The Kidnapping. (Ok, *I* was too chicken because I didn’t want to be handcuffed)!

At Breakout Atlana — all the escape room experiences are private, so there won’t be strangers working with you.  Just your family, friends, and you!

BIG ESCAPE ROOMS (ATLANTA)

CLOWN

Even the picture on the website for this one gives me the creeps — I cannot imagine actually being there!

In Clown, the story goes that you and your friends have been trapped in an abandoned circus by Boris — a crazed, serial killer clown. (Of course!)

The good news is that Boris is in a playful mood and he’s giving you a chance to escape — but only if you can succeed at his twisted games.

You’ll have one hour to search for clues that will help you solve the puzzle and escape from his traps. You must make it out before Boris tires of playing and makes you his latest victims!

This one is recommended for teams that are less experienced with escape rooms. It’s considered intermediate though, so it’s still a challenge.

THE ESCAPERY (MARIETTA)

JACK THE RIPPER

What could be more gruesome for Halloween than tracking down Jack the Ripper?!

In Jack the Ripper, the key suspect in the Jack the Ripper case has escaped — and now another young woman is missing! As detectives, you must track him to his lair in the abandoned butcher shop and rescue his final victim before time runs out.

This one may contain jump scares, and contains gore and thematic elements.  Definitely enter at your own risk!

ESCAPE THE NETHERWORLD (STONE MOUNTAIN)

After purchasing 10 acres of property in Stone Mountain in 2017, the team behind NETHERWORLD Haunted House knew they wanted to expand beyond haunted attractions and into the popular new world of escape rooms. The initial launch of Escape the NetherWorld featured three games followed by a fourth in 2019 with a variety of themes designed to challenge and entertain both novices and experts.

Created for groups of 4 to 8 players, Haunted: Curse of the Night Hag and Sasquatch: Bigfoot’s Revenge are challenging enough for everyone to enjoy with Tiki Island: Attack of the Shark God and Nosferatu: Van Helsing’s Secret upping the complexity just enough to give players an even greater challenge.

Escape the NETHERWORLD is widely renowned for escape rooms that feature both intricate and challenging gameplay in addition to incredibly detailed sets and elaborate twists and turns that completely immerse guests into the game. But fear not, game masters are present to help guide guests and provide clues (if needed) along the way.

New in 2023: In Alien Terror: Doom of The Dark Horizon, you have booked a passage on a deep space mining vessel to experience the ultimate thrill – navigating the event horizon of a massive black hole! Awakening from a long slumber, you discover the crew is missing, the ship is experiencing massive failures and some sort of THING is lurking in the darkness hounding your every move! Will you be able to escape the doomed ship before it is pulled into the swirling gravity vortex – or will you meet the same horrible fate as the rest of the crew?
