Movies Under the Stars is back for two Friday nights at Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park in Hapeville:
- June 13 – Dog Man
- July 11 – Moana 2
Bring a blanket, maybe a couple of folding chairs, and settle in for a free movie night for the family.

The pre-movie stuff kicks off around 7:30 p.m., and by “pre-movie,” we’re talking lawn games, kids running in every direction, maybe some local snacks. The movie starts at sundown—but no one’s setting a stopwatch.
This year’s lineup feels smart. Dog Man is based on the wildly popular book series by Dav Pilkey, which means you can probably convince a nine-year-old to sit still for 93 minutes. And Moana 2 is, well, Moana. Expect a solid crowd, and possibly a few adults who pretend they’re only there for the kids.
What makes Hapeville’s movie nights work is how un-fussy they are. There’s no VIP lawn section, no branded photo booth, no aggressive theme. Just a city park, a shared screen, and a familiar sense of “we’ve all had long weeks—let’s watch a movie together.”
If it rains, they’ll move things inside to the Hoyt Smith Center gym. If it doesn’t, you’re in for a good old-fashioned night under the stars—sticky fingers, sleepy toddlers, and all.
