If your Fourth of July planning always turns into a group text spiral of “what time does it start?” and “who’s driving?”—you’re not alone. But this year, Cobb County has made the decision-making a little easier by packing a solid lineup of celebrations into its town squares, lakeside parks, and, yes, even a roller coaster or two. The best part? You don’t have to leave the metro or shell out for an overpriced rooftop just to catch some fireworks.

KENNESAW – Salute to America (July 3)
Kennesaw jumps the gun (in the best way) with its big Independence bash on July 3rd. They’re setting up shop downtown with two live music stages, a kids’ parade that’s more adorable chaos than strict formation, street performers doing their thing, and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
This one feels like the pre-party your nostalgic heart wanted. If you’ve ever wanted to twirl a sparkler while someone sings “Proud to Be an American” in real time—this is your moment.
Good to know:
- Get there early for parking. Downtown fills fast.
- Bring chairs, maybe a picnic blanket, and bug spray.
- You can still sleep in on the Fourth.
ACWORTH – Let Freedom Ring! (July 4)
Lakeside + lawn chairs + one of the largest fireworks displays in metro Atlanta = a solid July 4 plan. Cauble Park, right on Lake Acworth, is throwing its annual all-ages bash with live music, food, and that low-key summer magic you only get near water.
If your ideal Fourth involves toes in the grass, kids with sticky popsicle faces, and big sky views, this is the one.
Real talk:
- Parking’s limited near the lake. Shuttles are usually your best bet.
- It’s a bring-your-own-blanket situation.
- The crowd’s big but friendly. No one’s setting a stopwatch.
MARIETTA – Fourth in the Park (July 4)
This one goes all day and feels like your classic small-town celebration, except it’s in one of the busiest corners of Cobb. Marietta Square hosts a morning parade, live music, food trucks, an arts and crafts market, and carnival games you’ll pretend are “for the kids.”
When the sun sets, the fireworks take over—and yes, you can see them from the Square if you grab a spot early.
You’ll want to:
- Set up near Glover Park for peak views and vibes
- Bring cash—some vendors don’t take cards
- Pace yourself. It’s a marathon, not a sprint
POWDER SPRINGS – Fourth of July Celebration (July 4, 6–10 p.m.)
Powder Springs keeps it a little more laid-back, but with a good dose of small-town charm. Their party happens at Thurman Springs Park, with live bands, food vendors, a classic car show, and fireworks to wrap it all up.
It’s the kind of event where you’ll probably run into someone from high school—or your kid’s teacher—and end up staying longer than you planned.
Heads up:
- Car show fans, get there early. Those parking spots near the action go fast.
- If you’re not into crowds, this one feels less packed than Marietta or Acworth.
- The music leans family-friendly, but still fun.
SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA – Star Spangled Nights (July 4–5)
Fireworks after roller coasters? Sure. Six Flags is doing a two-night blowout with its Star Spangled Nights show, and you don’t have to ride anything if you’re just here for the sky glitter.
For the full extra experience, you can spring for their VIP Fireworks Party inside Hurricane Harbor. Think: night swim, buffet, games, and no one yelling at you to stop running by the pool.
Pro tips:
- Fireworks are best viewed near SUPERMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE rides
- It’s hot—water rides in the afternoon are your friend
- The VIP party costs extra but gets you good space and shorter lines
TRUIST PARK – Braves vs. Orioles + Fireworks (July 4)
America’s pastime, a good-natured rivalry, and a post-game fireworks show? That’s about as Fourth of July as it gets. The Braves are hosting the Orioles, and you can expect packed stands, hot dogs, and a pretty spectacular display once the last pitch is thrown.
Bonus: the Braves House Band plays before the game, and the energy in the Battery always feels a little extra during holiday weekends.
If you go:
- Parking is chaos. Seriously. Consider an Uber or Lyft.
- Get there early to wander The Battery
- Stick around after the game—those fireworks are worth it
Cobb’s doing the most this Fourth of July. But instead of feeling overdone, it actually feels kind of perfect—like the summer version of a sampler platter. So, pick your scene: lakeside chill, downtown tradition, roller coaster chaos, or ballpark magic. Just bring sunscreen, drink water, and try not to lose your lawn chair.
