Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga is a vibrant city with a rich history and culture that’s worth exploring. From the bustling downtown to the scenic outdoor attractions, there’s something for everyone in Chattanooga.
And when it comes to finding the perfect place to stay, the city offers a wide range of options, from luxury resorts to cozy boutique hotels. Let us introduce you to five of the best Chattanooga hotels that are sure to make your stay unforgettable, regardless of how you’re traveling. So pack your bags, and let’s dive in!
MOST FAMILY-FRIENDLY – The Chattanoogan Hotel
The Chattanoogan is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. We really like this hotel as the best family option in Chattanooga because it’s so expansive. Space. Children. Score! You’re super close to all of the great things to do in downtown Chattanooga with kids, like the aquarium, without being in the thick of things with people and street traffic. This was great for our teen and 10-year-old because we could just let them roam.
Our kids are old enough where we don’t need to be by their side every second, even in public places like hotels. This allowed us to hang out at High Rail, a really well-done rooftop bar with all sorts of comfortable seating. In fact, at one point the kids came down from the room to play football with their friends at the small lawn just below High Rails patio.
There’s food options at High Rail, and we took the opportunity to order a pizza here for the kiddos. But we chose to have dinner down in Forge, the hotel’s premier restaurant. Forge’s executive chef Chris Moore takes pride in the menu and its daily sourced ingredients.
Breakfasts were a breeze at Noogans Coffee Market where we enjoyed locally sourced coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. We really appreciated the convenience before our days exploring the city.

BEST DOWNTOWN OPTION FOR COUPLES – The Edwin Hotel
The Edwin is a boutique hotel that’s unique in just about every way. Not only is this hotel known for its private art collection with over 75 original works, but the decor and ambience of the architecture, common areas and guest rooms exude artistic taste at its finest. It’s called “Chattanooga’s Luxury Hotel for Art Lovers”, and we concur. Seriously, you have to take a look at the gallery of images to know what I’m talking about. And this is just one of the reasons we picked The Edwin for our top downtown option for couples.
The Edwin is centrally located to area attractions such as the Tennessee Aquarium, Convention Center, and Bluff View Art District. And since you’re experiencing the art vibe, visit the Hunter Museum of American Art within walking distance.
The views from the hotel are spectacular. And we suggest enjoying them from The Whiskey Thief’s patio bar. Here you’ll enjoy a great, wide view of the Tennessee River, Walnut Street Bridge and North Shore. Fun fact – The Walnut Street Bridge was designed by Edwin Thatcher – which is how the hotel got its name.
The Whiskey Thief offers amazing craft cocktails as well as some small plate/snack food options – and brunch on the weekends. But for dinner, check out Whitebird, the Edwin’s restaurant choice. Whitebird features an exquisite menu featuring things like a smoked venison rack and freshwater trout.
The tasteful decor of the entire Edwin Hotel location, and its proximity to other things to do in downtown Chattanooga make it the perfect date night hotel.

MOST UNIQUE OPTION – The Dwell House
The Dwell House, also located downtown, wins the most unique option largely due to its 16 themed and exquisitely decorated rooms. With themes like The Flamingo, The New Yorker and The Puzzle, whichever option you choose is sure to delight your visual sense. There’s a gallery online to view each option – pick the one that suits your fancy.
But there’s more to the Dwell House than 16 uniquely decorated mid-century modern rooms. Matilda Midnight is a swank little basement bar where you can enjoy craft cocktails, wine or beer under a starry night, indoors, on any evening.
Staying at the Dwell also puts you at the center of everything happening in beautiful downtown Chattanooga, with many restaurants, brewpubs and activities within walking distance.

IDEAL FOR AN EXTENDED STAY – Bode Chattanooga
Why is the Bode our choice for an extended stay in Chattanooga? One word: Kitchen. They offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites, all with a living space and kitchen. But this isn’t Residence Inn or StayBridge. This is boutique, downtown Chattanooga class and style combined with expansive suites that let you live comfortably alone or with large families for an extended period of time.
For instance…you won’t find a coffee shop with local brews, homemade pop tarts and avocado toast at a chain suite hotel. And you won’t find impeccably decorated, chic living spaces and a craft cocktail bar either.
The added convenience of being able to save some cash and prepare lunches and dinners in the full kitchens with dishwashers, stoves and fridges makes this location so worthwhile. And even if you don’t prepare entire meals, a place to store and reheat those restaurant leftovers is super convenient.

PERFECT FOR A GIRLS’ GETAWAY – The Read House
The Read House is our choice for a girls’ getaway, but to be honest it’s pretty cool for couples as well, especially for that date night experience. The Read “specializes in 1920s splendor while catering to modern tastes.”
Nominated for the Condé Nast 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, The Read is ideal for a girls escape. Wake up and order breakfast via room service, then hit the fitness center with its Peloton bikes to wake you up for an early afternoon of shopping and exploring the city.
After a fun lunch, head back to the hotel for a dip in the pool, and then grab a cocktail and Bar & Billiards before painting the town red!
It’s a sophisticated 1920’s-style speakeasy where the waitress are decked out in full flapper outfits. The Bar & Billiards room has great 20’s-style cocktails as well as a full lunch and dinner menu, if you prefer to hang at the hotel.
