Cane Creek Falls | Dahlonega865 Camp Glisson Rd
Cane Creek Falls is a pretty, short stop when in Dahlonega. It was not at all what I expected….we found ourselves weaving around a Methodist Church Camp/Retreat to get to the falls. The GPS took us in the back way, but upon finding the front entrance and speaking with the folks at the visitor center, they welcome “outsiders” to the falls area. (PS. There are restrooms at this visitor area.)
You will park in the designated parking area for the falls, and walk a short boardwalk to the viewing area. You can then follow the road to the approach “trails” to get down to the falls. I put trails in quotes because it is a short 100 yard walk.
Down by the falls you can get a few photos, and get close to the water’s edge. Unfortunately, you are not able to play in the water or swim here. That was a difficult rule for my young boys to understand, so I was glad that the weather was on the cool side.
I consider this more of a Roadside Attraction than a waterfall/hike…but if you are in the area, it is worth a stop.
