Little Shop of Stories is every mom’s dream. It’s a Decatur book store that engages kids of all ages, with awesome murals, great books, a play section, and tons of scheduled events. Plus, there are books for Mom, too. Here are four reasons to make a stop (besides the fact that it’s just a darn good book store!)
The Floor. When you visit, be sure to look down. The floor is covered in hundreds of thousands of pennies. And they are not just laid down…they are laid in a gorgeous pattern! They use newly printed pennies for the light colors, and older pennies for the darker color. All of these pennies come from donations…so be sure to bring your spare change, because the floor isn’t done yet!
Weekly Story Time. Story times happen on Tues, Thur, Fri and Sun…and they are super fun. The largest crowd shows on Sunday, but don’t let that deter you. You’ll make some keen friends with a passion like yours.
Bring your 2-6 yo to the Tuesday event. Babies and kids up until about 3yo will appreciate a more “circle time” style presentation – with song and play – that happen on Thu and Fri.
As always, pls call before you go. Things sometimes change!
My First Book Club. It is for this club that I wish we lived closer…kids 5-7 enjoy book discussions and a fun activity at this monthly (more or less) book club. And they don’t even have to be reading on their own to enjoy the discussion.
There are eight other book clubs, also, for every age…for adults…even a poetry and wine club. WOW!
Birthday Parties. Bring your birthday kiddos here for a great (and unique) party – and it’s affordable. You’ll get a themed storytime, 2 hours in the birthday room, and more!
After 18 years in software development, Lesli bailed on the corporate scene. When she’s not traveling, she’s hiking in the mountains or checking out Atlanta’s culinary scene, whiskey in hand.
Lesli has two kiddos -Cooper and Elliot- plus two bonus kids currently at UGA, and she’s happily married to her soul mate.
