JET SKI RENTAL DESTIN FL: WHO CAN RIDE??

There are a couple of safety rules in place when it comes to renting jet skis in Destin — and we want to make sure you have that info!

Adults born BEFORE January 1, 1988, can operate a jet ski with a valid driver’s license or photo ID without a Florida’s Boater License.

Those born on or after January 1, 1988, can operate a jet ski but are required to take a Florida Boaters Test. The boater safety course is available at most jet ski rental companies for a small fee (usually $3) — and you can take it before you head out. They take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.

You’ll want to arrive early if someone in your party is taking the test (most rental locations require this person to be 18 years old). After the test, they’ll have their boating safety education identification card issued, and they’ll need that and their photo ID to ride.
