7 Exciting Ways to Celebrate Christmas at Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is Atlanta’s most beloved attraction with animal encounters, Dolphin Tales, behind-the-scenes adventures and so much more.

Is there anything better?

Yes!  It’s Georgia Aquarium Christmas events!

Christmas is such a special time at the Aquarium.  They have thousands of lights, festive music and special events with Santa and SCUBA Claus  — all of which make the holiday events here the perfect place to make lasting memories.

They haven’t yet released any information about their holiday plans for 2020, but when (and if) they do — we’ll make sure to update this article with the very latest details.

The following is information from 2019, since 2020 information has not been released.

Here’s your complete Festival of the SEAson lineup!

Tree Lighting

Guests can kick-off the holiday season with the tree lighting at the aquarium. The exclusive event allows you to not only witness the bright and joyous lights, but also experience the aquarium one hour before the galleries open to the general public.

Guests are invited to enjoy hot chocolate and holiday treats, Christmas carols, and a penguin waddle.  (Sounds adorable!)

Symphony of Snow

Enjoy this holiday live entertainment experience complete with your favorite songs of the season culminating with the entrance of Santa Claus.

Full shows every weekend, caroling daily!

SCUBA Claus

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a visit from their very own underwater Santa — SCUBA Claus! Come face-to-face with Santa as he dons his specially-designed Santa wetsuit and plunges into the world’s largest aquatic habitat, Ocean Voyager Built by The Home Depot.

He’ll talk live to guests on the dry side in the Ocean Voyager Theater.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ 4D Experience

You are invited on an extraordinary 4-D adventure this holiday season on THE POLAR EXPRESS™! When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ 4-D Experience is based on the inspiring and beloved Caldecott Medal children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg.

(And it “snows” in the theater!  My kids thought it was amazing.)

Visit with Santa

Time for a visit and a photograph with Georgia Aquarium’s own seaside St. Nick! Santa is available for kids of all ages during scheduled dates and times in the Atrium.

He’s waiting to hear what all of Georgia Aquarium’s guests hope for this holiday

Breakfast with Santa

Santa is making a stop at the Georgia Aquarium! Tired from his travels from the North Pole to Atlanta, he’s fallen asleep in his chair. Join Santa’s helpers in waking Jolly old Saint Nick.

Once awake, he’ll be hungry for a hearty breakfast! Gather for a hot breakfast buffet created by our chefs at Wolfgang Puck Catering. After Santa’s belly is full, spend time letting Santa know your holiday wish and pose for a picture.

Complimentary photos will be provided of you and your family with Santa.
