Reynolds Lake Oconee offers short-term guests three vacation rental options: Cottages, condos and hotel-like rooms at The Inn. We stayed in one of the condominiums, which offers golf, lake views and woodland views. Pick what is best for your family and your visit…this review is specifically about our condo within The Village at Lake Club Pointe.

Calming, charming and filled with character, accommodations at this hotel near Greensboro, GA capture the essence of a lakeside retreat. Rooms overlook gardens or Lake Oconee, and lake houses and cottages feature kitchens, outdoor spaces, living rooms and everything else needed for a group getaway.

COTTAGES BY THE LAKE

Their cottages by the lake offer views of the lake and the golf course. Each cottage differs in size and space, but most offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The room we stayed in was a two bedroom and 2 bath cottage with a master bedroom with a king-size bed, and access to the covered back patio. It also included a HUGE walk-in closet and grand master bathroom with oversized shower and Jacuzzi tub, plus everything in the bathroom is a beautiful marble.

The second bedroom included a double bed and large closet. The second bathroom was situated next to this bedroom, but available for general use. It included a shower/tub combo with great shower doors.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen was spacious and gorgeous, with wood cabinetry, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. We enjoyed a full size fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher and Keurig (with K-cups for us to indulge in each morning.)

The cupboards were stocked with dishes (including wine glasses,) pots and pans, silver and utensils. It was also open to the living and dining rooms, with counter space and barstools, so if you want to make your own meals while visiting, you don’t have to sacrifice family time.

LIVING SPACE

The open floor plan and expansive living space were heavenly for me and hubby, and the 1500 sq ft would work well for a family, also.

The living room included a sofa and chairs, with a gorgeous gas fireplace, TV and book cases. It also opened to the dining room with seating for six. Windows across all the outside walls drew in amazing natural light.

There was a second entrance to the covered patio from within the dining room. The patio included comfortable lounge chairs, a coffee table and rug. It was the ideal place for morning coffee and afternoon tea.

Reynolds Lake Oconee is a haven for outdoor lovers. Here are just a sample of the adventures you can have without leaving the community.

LAKE OCONEE

Lake Oconee’s 19,000 acres makes it Georgia’s third largest lake (or second, if you consider that Lake Hartwell is primarily in South Carolina.) Guests are welcome to bring their own boats and launch here without any fees.

If you want to take advantage of the lake, but you – like us – are without your own boat, have no fear. You can rent a pontoon boat for scouting the lake. Take it out with a captain, as we did, or if you prefer to be alone then they will give you a driving quick lesson and send you out on your own. Our guide showed us a few favorite spots of the locals, like Jumping Rock and The Sandbar. We rode up to the dam, taking in the gorgeous homes and breathtaking shoreline.

Near the dam you’ll find a dock that leads to Rock Hawk. The dock is on land owned by Georgia Power Company, so feel free to tie up the boat and take a hike. It’s also near Lawrence Shoals Park and Campground, which offers picnic tables, a sandy beach and more fun play options.

GOLF

GOLF magazine continues to rank two of the Reynolds courses in America’s Top 100 and four in the top 10 in Georgia.

Reynolds Lake Oconee is made for golfers. In fact, it has been named to GOLF Magazine’s list of “25 Best Golf Communities in North America,” offering six gorgeous courses and 117 holes.

TENNIS

Guests can enjoy a game of tennis at Linger Longer Park or The Landing. Need to freshen your game? The Tennis Center at The Lake Club is available to guests for instruction.

POOLS AND PLAYGROUNDS

Linger Longer Park is available to guests looking for fun. It includes a junior-sized Olympic pool, poolside Jacuzzi tub, and children’s wading pool and playground. It’s here that you will find the tennis courts, along with bocce courts and a basketball hoop. There is plenty of green space for throwing a ball and accessing trails.

HIKING

Explore 21 miles of trails in Reynolds Lake Oconee, perfect for hiking, biking or running. I love this article from the Reynolds Lake Oconee blog that lists seven family-friendly hikes within the master community. Take special note of the first hike, which follows a trail within a cove of Lake Oconee. Breathtaking!

BEYOND REYNOLDS LAKE OCONEE

Guests of Reynolds Lake Oconee are welcome to visit the spa at the nearby Ritz-Carlton. Spoiling yourself at the spa is $30 per day, or free if you purchase a spa service. You can while away the day in the fire-side hot tub or order lunch after a swim in the lap pool. We’ll have more information on this in the coming days.

EAT AT REYNOLDS LAKE OCONEE

One of the benefits of staying at the condos is having your own kitchen for snacks and meals, but dining out is also a fun way to vacation. Their Executive Chef, Zouhair Bellout, or Chef Z as he is known by the staff and regulars, is an experienced culinarian who takes full advantage of locally grown and seasonal ingredients.

THE NATIONAL TAVERN

Situated in the heart of Reynolds golf and lake country on the finishing hole of the Bluff nine on the golf course. Their chefs source locally grown and seasonal ingredients to create innovative and fun twists on traditional favorites. The setting is also warm and welcoming.

They serve both lunch and dinner at the bar and lounge, in the dining room or on either of our verandas with sweeping views. Watch the game in casual comfort or cozy up by the firepit. The Tavern is the ideal place to gather round and enjoy one another’s company.

The Tavern was also recently honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2019 Restaurant Awards for the third consecutive year.

As the name suggests, expect pub-fare with a twist. Select from an array of small plates or larger entrees of meat or fish, or grab a glass of wine from the bar and enjoy conversation with friends. I recommend the quail poppers, wrapped in jalapeno, cheese and bacon. Our waiter indicated that the goat cheese beignets are another popular selection, drizzled with local honey and topped with black pepper. Finally, the pineapple upside cake is worthy of the extra calories. It is cooked in a single-serve dish with a crusty, delicious edge.

EIGHTY8 KITCHEN + COCKTAILS

This venue has served as the historical epicenter of the Reynolds social scene for decades. Eighty8 Kitchen + Cocktails pays homage to its long-standing roots by serving up traditional and comfortable Southern breakfast, Sunday brunch, dinner and cocktails that feel and taste like home.

Gather in the bar and lounge or for a homestyle meal in the dining room in a cozy, welcoming setting.

THE LANDING CLUB

We enjoyed a delightful breakfast each morning at The Landing Club, but it is also open for dinner. I highly recommend the Sunday brunch, when cinnamon buns, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and other delicious treats compliment the regular omelet station, bacon, fruit and more.

For classic comfort cuisine with an imaginative twist, The Landing offers a family-friendly menu featuring familiar favorites with a spotlight on innovative approaches to classic club offerings. This family-friendly restaurant offers everything from Italian to BBQ.

BEYOND REYNOLDS LAKE OCONEE

Guests of Reynolds Lake Oconee can take advantage of dining at the nearby Ritz-Carlton, as well. While visiting, we enjoyed a delightful dinner at their grand dining room, Georgia’s Bistro. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.

In the town of Greensboro, not too far from Reynolds Lake Oconee is Oconee Brewing Company, a craft beer production facility with a tasting room.  It’s open Thursdays through Sundays. Not a beer drinker? Not a problem, they also offer wine made from Georgia grapes.
