After taking a 4-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers is again ready to welcome visitors.
The popular Highlights & Insights Tour is coming back to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers. The tours will kick off Saturday, April 13, and will continue on the second Saturday of each month.
What can you expect from a Highlights & Insights Tour?
The tours give visitors a rare glimpse into the lives of the Trappist monks. You’ll see how they live, work, and pray in a community cloistered from the outside world.
During the tour, guests will also be able to learn more about the history behind the construction of the Abbey Church, which was made of poured concrete and built by hand by cloistered monks. It’s an architectural and engineering marvel that has been called “Georgia’s Most Remarkable Concrete Building.”
Tours will take place on the second Saturday of each month from 9:30am – 11:30am. Pre-registration is required. You can purchase your Highlights & Insights Tour tickets here.
If you can’t make a tour, The Monastery Visitor Center is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11am – 4pm. The Visitor Center features a film about the history of the area, and you can learn more about the monks and why they chose Georgia as their home.
This monastery is located about 40 minutes east of Atlanta and is adjacent to the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. The PATH walking and biking trail from the Heritage Area goes past the Monastery in Conyers.
