Looks Like “Florida Man’ Is Getting a New Profile

You remember Florida Man, right?

The Internet meme was first popularized in 2013, referring to a ‘prevalence’ of people performing irrational or maniacal actions in Florida.

“Florida man caught on security camera licking doorknob for three hours,” or “Florida man arrested for stealing 66 rolls of toilet paper from hotel.”

Looks Like "Florida Man' Is Getting a New Profile

Well, according to SmartAsset, it looks like Florida is attracting a NEW kind of person. Florida (and Texas) have doubled the number of “young and rich” households moving to the state.

In fact, more than 2x the households are immigrating to each of these states than any other.

I know… your first question is probably the same as mine. What is young? And what is rich?

According to the survey, these statistics include households making over $200,000/yr – ages 26-35.

In Florida, the adjusted gross income of this group is $526,273. In Texas, it’s $405,215. The highest? Nevada at $731,304.

They didn’t share the average gross income for this group in Georgia… but we do know that Georgia is the 12th most “moved to” state among the young and rich.

So who were the losers?

California was the biggest loser… losing nearly 3x more households than the next state… Illinois.
