Fort Yargo’s Beach Glow-Up Comes With Ice Cream, Mini Golf, and Hammock Poles

Just in time to rescue us from another Georgia summer, Fort Yargo State Park has officially reopened its newly renovated beach—and it’s got more going for it than just fresh sand.

Fort Yargo’s Beach Glow-Up Comes With Ice Cream, Mini Golf, and Hammock Poles

First off: mini golf. Yep, there’s a brand-new course tucked into the mix now, perfect for low-stakes competition after a swim or, honestly, just a reason to wander barefoot with a putter. Around the beach area, more than 70 new picnic tables have been added, which should cut down on the time-honored tradition of circling for a shady spot like a vulture with a cooler.

They’ve also thought about the people who just want to chill. New hammock poles now dot the beach, so you can string up and swing without searching for the perfect pair of trees. And for the paddle-inclined, the park’s kayak fleet has gotten an upgrade too.

Parking has expanded (bless), and a new Trading Post near the beach is now stocked with everything from sandwiches and snacks to souvenirs and soft-serve. It’s basically a convenience store with a better view.

If one day isn’t enough—and let’s be honest, it rarely is—Fort Yargo’s new cottages and roomy campground make it easy to turn a beach day into a weekend.

In short: more places to sit, swing, snack, paddle, and sleep. Summer plans = handled.
