If you’ve ever wandered through the Computer Museum of America, geeking out over old-school tech and retro gaming, get ready for something new. At its BYTE fundraiser last week, the museum dropped a big announcement—moving forward, it will be known as Mimms Museum of Technology and Art.

The rebrand comes as the museum celebrates its fifth anniversary and gears up for a major expansion in 2026, including the much-anticipated iNSPIRE: Fifty Years of Innovation at Apple exhibit. That’s right—20,000 square feet dedicated to Apple’s history, packed with rare products, prototypes, and collector’s items.
Founder and board chair Lonnie Mimms explained the new name reflects what the museum has become—more than just computers. “Technology and art go hand in hand,” he said. “We want to showcase both and align with STEAM education, which is shaping the future of both fields.”

A Look at the Evolution
Since opening in 2019, the museum has grown from three core exhibits—A Tribute to Apollo 11, Supercomputing, and The STEAM Timeline—to include interactive experiences like the Retro Gaming Corner and The Enigma Machine exhibit. Now, it’s stepping even further into the intersection of art and tech.
At last night’s event, attendees got the first look at an exclusive Salvador Dalí exhibit, featuring more than 20 signed prints. The exhibit officially opened to the public today and is included with museum admission.
The event also featured a Hall of Fame induction for three tech pioneers: Dr. David Bader, Dan Bricklin, and John Yates. Their contributions have shaped the industry, and now their names are forever part of the museum’s legacy.
What’s Next?
Big things are on the horizon. With a fresh name, a bold vision, and exciting new exhibits, the Mimms Museum of Technology and Art is set to bring even more innovation (and nostalgia) to the community.
