Grand Reopening Set for Reimagined Columbus Museum

Calling all art enthusiasts! After a $25 million renovation — The Columbus Museum is ready to reopen its doors. A Grand Reopening Celebration is coming up so you can explore the new and improved space.

After a jaw-dropping makeover that’s been 18 months in the making, The Columbus Museum in Columbus, GA is set to reopen its doors. This amazing art museum will feature revamped galleries, cutting-edge exhibits, and a lighter and brighter atmosphere.

To celebrate all of the awesome changes, the public is invited to the museum’s Grand Reopening Weekend, taking place May 4 and 5. Admission is FREE to the public.

The Grand Reopening Weekend will kick off at 10am on Saturday, May 4 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony before the activities begin. Highlights for the weekend include docent-led tours, a mystery scavenger hunt, art making, a children’s story time, food trucks, giveaways, and even a silent disco on Saturday night!

Local artists will also be on hand to perform, including Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts, Springer Theater Academy, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, the Columbus State University Schwob School of Music, and more.

The Grand Reopening will be Saturday, May 4 from 10am – 10pm, and Sunday, May 5 from 1pm – 5pm. Explore the reimagined history and art galleries, an interactive children’s gallery and garden, a welcoming public courtyard, a new grab-and-go café, and more.

After the Grand Reopening, The Columbus Museum will return to its regular hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – 10am-5pm; Thursdays – 10am-8pm; Sundays – 1pm-5pm; Closed Mondays. Admission to The Columbus Museum is always FREE.
