Are you the type of person who would enjoy the peace and serenity of a kayaking trip but are a bit anxious to try? It is such a safe activity if done with knowledge and care. At the same time we’ve all seen those videos of a newbie climbing in followed by the fateful tip over. (Queue friends and family laughing hysterically on the dock)
We’ve got a solution for you, and it’s pretty cool.

REI is now offering a Learn to Kayak class, and there are currently two locations in the Atlanta area, the Chattahoochee Nature Center and Sweetwater Creek State Park.
The course promises to “introduce you to the fundamentals of kayaking in a comfortable setting and at a relaxed pace”. You’ll learn about preparedness, safety, and proper technique, all in a comfortable and beautiful setting. We’ve kayaked the Chattahoochee Nature Center and Sweetwater before. They’re both breathtakingly beautiful locations in deceivingly urban areas.
Who knows? Perhaps you’ll wind up purchasing a kayak to take on your own adventures. There are plenty of low cost, traditional models available. And the latest trend has been these collapsable models that are super easy to transport.
