Outdoor art exhibits offer a great opportunity to get outside with the family while simultaneously absorbing some life-giving creativity, and maybe get some exercise as a bonus.
There’s a new outdoor exhibit on display at two parks in Roswell, but hurry because they won’t be there long.
Where We Wander, a new family-oriented outdoor art exhibit is on display at Leita Thompson Memorial Park and Big Creek Park now through the end of September, 2024.
Artist Sam Carter has made a name for himself in the Atlanta film community over the last 20 years as an artistic jack of all trades. From fabricating puppets, props, and set pieces to mold making to woodworking to writing, producing, and directing projects of his own, Sam is always taking on new and challenging projects.
Born and raised in Georgia, Sam currently resides in Roswell with his wife and two children. He previously created the “Woodknotts of Roswell,” a whimsical collection of creatures blending plant and animal characteristics in the style of Dr. Seuss, for Roswell Arts Fund’s ArtAround: Pathways exhibit in the summer of 2023.
Where We Wander aims to promote a love of nature, hiking, and wildlife education among children and their families. Visitors will embark on an adventure through the trails, finding these beautifully crafted creatures and engaging with fun facts about the animals and their natural habitats. This interactive experience is designed to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the environment.
Three different printables are available on the Where We Wander page of the Roswell Art’s Fund website that offer a great way to interactively explore the exhibits at both parks. I might just color some of these in without the kiddos!
