Where to camp in a yurt in Georgia

Yurts are fun and easy ways to camp with kids (or without!) You can skip the “setting up the tent” part of the adventure, and get straight to the good stuff: s’mores, hiking, swimming…whatever your crew loves to do. Here are five places to camp in a yurt in Georgia, including the newest place to yurt…Sweetwater Creek State Park.

Yurts at Georgia State Parks

When you say yurt, I say Georgia State Parks. Now there is even more ways to stay with the parks…Sweetwater Creek State Park now has a yurt village (and a campground!) 10 yurts are tucked away in a quiet, wooded section of the park. Made of wood and canvas, yurts sleep up to six people and come with beds, futons, screened windows and locking doors, as well as an outside deck, picnic table and grill/fire ring. Yurt reservations are $85 per night. Nearby, five tent campsites will also be available for campers to reserve, and a bathhouse with hot showers is centrally located.

You can also stay in a yurt at High Falls State Park (we did! see our yurt pictures here!) Red Top Mountain, Fort Yargo, Cloudland Canyon and Tugaloo State Parks.

Yurts at Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain State Park also added new yurts this year. Three yurts are on the lake, and (different than the state parks) they feature A/C and true beds, as opposed to futon/bunk beds. The yurts are located in the campground and include all the campground amenities. Want to know how easy it is to camp at Stone Mountain? Here’s a post about our Stone Mountain camping adventure.

Other Yurts to Consider

Cedar House Inn & Yurts near Dahlonega offers luxury gamping yurts for adults only.

Blanche Manor near Blue Ridge offers a “Dude Ranch” style experience, with the opportunity to stay in a Yurt (or a cabin.)

Pine Mountain RV Resort offers yurt camping. It’s a fun way to stay while exploring Callaway Gardens and Columbus, Ga.
