Why Decatur’s W.D. Thomson Park Will Make You Smile

W. D. Thomson Park | Decatur

1760 Mason Mill Rd
Atlanta, Ga

Following instructions from Hiking Atlanta’s Hidden Forests, we embarked on the 1-mile trail at W.D. Thomson Park in Decatur. It was marvelous!! We were surrounded by gorgeous forest and trees that touched the sky. We crossed a stream several times, allowing the boys to toss pebbles and have a blast! The tree roots that showed themselves were breathtaking, too. It was a short hike with much reward. Be sure to follow their Friends group here!

The trailhead begins to the right of the basketball court, but down the short, steep hill you will also find a bridge, field and small playground for the kiddos. On the trail, follow the blue trail, to the orange trail, to the green trail….or pick up the book for a map and details!

Disclosure: No one paid me, and no one asked. We love searching out new hikes with Jonah’s book and hope you do the same. #keepingitreal
