Paramount’s Hit Tulsa King Turns Into…Atlanta King?

Have you seen Tulsa King on Paramount+ with Sylvester Stallone? It’s pretty engaging and witty, while somehow delivering classic Stallone and new refreshing Stallone at the same time. And boy has it done well for Paramount.

After it’s debut in late 2022, Paramount+ had picked up more subscribers in a single day than ever before, with ratings beating HBO’s Game of Thrones House of the Dragon prequel. While Season 1 of the show had filmed in Tulsa, look for Season 2 filming locations at a street corner near you, Atlanta.

Paramount's Hit Tulsa King Turns Into...Atlanta King?

No, they’re not changing the name to Atlanta King, although that would be pretty cool.

But they are moving the shoot to Georgia nonetheless. This is entirely due to the fact that the state still boasts the #1 tax incentives for filming in the country. As expected, Tulsa desperately wanted to keep filming in eponymous fashion, but just couldn’t compete with the tax breaks. Tulsa King is created and produced by Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame, and a tough series to lose, but big win for Georgia.

Georgia films and TV shows, like all others, are only sometimes set where actually filmed. Take the Netflix hit Ozark, for example. The opening flyover credits are clearly very much not Georgia, but locals clearly recognize the core filming locations around Lake Allatoona. We’d expect the same treatment for Tulsa King Season 2, along with shots from one of Atlanta’s many sound studios.

Fascinating fact – Tulsa King is Sylvester Stallone’s very first TV series.

So look out, Atlanta. We don’t have filming dates yet, but you might see Sly himself acting and directing soon on the streets of Atlanta, or running down Peachtree with his grey hoodie on his off time, fists pumping. How cool would that be?
