Last year the Georgia Cycling Association announced Trail Rangers, a youth mountain biking program designed specifically for elementary school students in grades 3-5. This exciting initiative invites adventurous kids to explore the outdoors, experience the thrill of cycling, and build teamwork skills—all while making unforgettable memories on the trail.

Whether your child is in public, private, or homeschool, Trail Rangers provides a welcoming environment for all young riders to develop their skills and confidence on two wheels. There are no tryouts—students of all athletic abilities are welcome! However, all participants must be able to ride a bike without training wheels before joining a team.
The 2025 season runs from March through May, giving kids nearly three months of outdoor fun and learning.
The program emphasizes play and connection as its core themes, using skill development through gameplay, friendship-building, and a love of nature to create a fun and pressure-free experience.
“We changed the face of youth mountain biking in Georgia over ten years ago with the creation of our mountain bike league. Today, we do it again with the launch of Trail Rangers,” said Kenny Griffin, Executive Director of the Georgia Cycling Association.
“This program is designed to introduce elementary-aged kids to the joys of mountain biking in an environment tailored just for them. Our goal is to help young riders build strong minds and bodies so they can lead healthy, active lives.”
What to Expect from Trail Rangers:
✔ Build Confidence – Learn to set goals and achieve them!
✔ Stay Active – Develop a love for movement that lasts a lifetime.
✔ Make Friends – Connect with other young riders in a supportive setting.
✔ Explore Nature – Ride through Georgia’s scenic trails and parks.
✔ Adventure Together – Participate in Expedition Days, a statewide celebration of biking and teamwork.
Trail Rangers teams are popping up across Georgia, with locations rolling out in various communities.
The Trail Rangers program is made possible through the support of community volunteers and generous grants from the Chestnut Family Foundation and Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund.
