For years, Tellus Science Museum has been the go-to field trip spot for school buses full of sugar-hyped kids and semi-exhausted chaperones. But this summer, the Cartersville museum is flipping the script—and the calendar. For the first time ever, they’re offering summer camps.

Yes, Tellus is throwing open its doors early and handing the reins (well, maybe the crayons and goggles) to the next generation of curators, crime scene investigators, and science sleuths.
And if you’re wondering if this is just glorified daycare with a microscope, take a closer look. These camps aren’t just about keeping kids busy. They’re about letting them get their hands dirty—sometimes literally—with the stuff that makes museums tick.
🖼️ Museum Makeover (Session 1)
June 2–6, 2025 | Ages 8–10
$155 Members / $190 Non-Members
Registration closes May 21 at noon
This one’s for the kids who love to rearrange your living room “just because it looks better this way.” Campers get a behind-the-scenes tour with a real Tellus exhibit designer, then create their own museum gallery diorama to take home. They’ll learn what makes visitors stop and say “wow”—and what makes them walk right past.
- Private tour with exhibit staff
- Build your own mini exhibit
- Designed for kids with big ideas and opinions
🖼️ Museum Makeover (Session 2)
July 21–25, 2025 | Ages 8–10
$155 Members / $190 Non-Members
Registration closes July 9 at noon
Missed the first one? No worries. Same camp, same hands-on creativity, different week. Your second chance to turn your kid into a mini curator.
🧬 Forensic Frenzy
June 23–27, 2025 | Ages 11–13
$155 Members / $190 Non-Members
Registration closes June 11 at noon
Welcome to junior CSI training. The lab looks like a crime scene—and that’s not just a figure of speech. Campers will solve mock crimes with hands-on experiments like:
- Fingerprinting
- Blood spatter analysis (chill, it’s simulated)
- Crime scene diagramming
- Evidence collection
Perfect for the true crime-obsessed middle schooler who already knows the difference between circumstantial and direct evidence.
🔍 Super Sleuths
July 14–18, 2025 | Ages 5–7 (rising 1st graders only—no exceptions)
$155 Members / $190 Non-Members
Registration closes July 2 at noon
A shipment of exhibit pieces just arrived… but the labels are missing. And these tiny detectives only have five days to sort it all out. Each day, campers tackle a new gallery-based science puzzle using hands-on activities that sneak in STEM skills through play.
- Perfect for the curious (and slightly chaotic) early learner
- Encourages teamwork and problem-solving
- Light on pressure, big on fun
