Do you have a future ornithologist, ecologist or park ranger in your midst, or perhaps a kid who just loves to be out in nature, with the belief that nature is truly “for the birds?”
The Georgia DNR has a unique camp opportunity for your birdwatching offspring. Learn more below.

Short for Teen Adventures Learning Ornithology and Nature, TALON is a unique DNR camp for teens with a strong interest in the outdoors, birding and ecology. The six-day, Georgia coast-based camp features trips to bird-rich places such as barrier islands and wildlife management areas, plus evening classes that hone campers’ bird and wildlife knowledge.
TALON is for students ages 14-19 and offers 16 slots. To make the camp the best learning adventure possible, interested parents and teens should fill out the registration form as the first step in pre-registration. The form helps potential participants better understand what to expect and all determine if TALON or possibly another DNR camp would be appropriate.
Registration is open for this year’s Camp TALON, set for May 31-June 5.
There’s a lot more info on Camp Talon here to include a video, so be sure to check it out.
