Nature Navigators: Sweetwater Creek
May 17, 2025, 10am-Noon

Explore Atlanta’s nature scene with Science ATL! Nature Navigators walks deepen attendees connection to the natural world, all in Atlanta’s backyard.

May’s walk will take place at Sweetwater Creek State Park. Meet their Nature Navigators Lead, Lance, outside the Interpretive Center, marked on the trail map. This hiking series leads you on adventures into (and out of) the green spaces found in & around Atlanta, while exposing the countless science experiments that nature is constantly running and how humans observe, influence, and are influenced by the natural world.

Consider these hikes as more of a scientific expedition through our local ecosystems. To that end, the entire journey will be a type of observational study and along the way we’ll be making frequent stops to appreciate & ask questions about our surroundings.

Pack water, snacks or a mobile meal, a smile and whatever else is appropriate for the respective adventure. Children are always welcome as long as they are able. Well behaved dogs are welcome so long as they remain leashed in accordance with local regulations.

This event is FREE with advance registration.
