Limited-Time African-American Music Tour in Macon

June is Black Music Month (also called African-American Music Appreciation Month), and what better way to honor it than by learning more about the history of African American music. Macon, Georgia has a lot to offer in this regard, both with those who have passed through the area, and those born and raised.

Visit Macon just announced a new, limited-time van tour to celebrate African-American Music Appreciation Month. The tour will only take place on two days later this month, so read on for details.

From Visit Macon – “Visit Macon is excited to add a new van tour experience that will focus on African American music heritage and history in Macon, Georgia. From the iconic Otis Redding Museum and Foundation to the legendary Douglass Theater, guests will be transported through time as we delve into the stories and places that have shaped the musical landscape of Macon. “

“Our goal is to celebrate and honor the profound impact of African-American music on not just Macon’s musical heritage, but also the Nation’s,” says Visitor Center Services Manager Naomi Peterson. “We’re excited to share the rich history and cultural significance of these landmarks with our guests.”

This special van tour only takes place on Friday, June 21st and Saturday, June 22nd at 1pm. Head to the Visit Macon website and click Book a Tour on the top of the page to reserve a spot.

The Downtown Visitor Center offers two other van tours “Soul Sights” and “African American Heritage” that book throughout the year. You can book these using the same link.
