Summer in Atlanta always finds a way to outdo itself—but The Home Depot Backyard is making a solid case for being the city’s unofficial front porch this month. From Juneteenth to Caribbean Heritage Month, Pride to Black Music Month, the Backyard is throwing a season-long block party that’s way more than just good vibes. Though yes, the vibes are very, very good.

🌈 Truist Night Market: Vibrant Vibes Edition – June 12
This month’s marquee event is pulling double (actually, quadruple) duty. It’s:
- A Juneteenth celebration
- A nod to Caribbean Heritage Month
- A Pride Month moment
- A tribute to Black Music Month
All wrapped into one ticketed Truist Night Market evening. Expect a mash-up of food, music, fashion, and soul—and not in a gimmicky way. This one’s built to celebrate communities that have shaped Atlanta from the ground up.

🍿 Summer Movie Experience: CreATL Arts Edition – August 23
Mark your calendars now—The Backyard is turning movie night into a full-blown immersive experience in August. Details are still under wraps, but it’s part of the CreATL Arts Festival, so expect local flair, surprise performances, and something a little weirder (and cooler) than your average lawn screening.
🧘🏾♀️ Free Community Classes Have Returned
Weekly programs are back the week of June 16 with sessions that hit The Backyard’s three pillars:
- Health + Wellness (yes, that includes yoga but probably not the boring kind)
- Arts + Culture (think paint, dance, music, maybe a drumming circle)
- Inspired Learning (aka smart stuff that doesn’t feel like school)
It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s a refreshingly solid reason to skip your usual gym or streaming binge.
🚀 A Win for Local Entrepreneurs
In other backyard news, The Home Depot Backyard just launched a partnership with The Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE). Translation: expect to see more small Black-owned businesses featured, supported, and spotlighted at events moving forward. This isn’t just about selling stuff—it’s about growing Atlanta’s business community in real ways.
