HALLOWEEN EVENTS FOR ALL AGES
Looking for Halloween events in Atlanta that transcend age and life stage? These Halloween events are fun for everyone.
- Pumpkin Patches. Don’t just stop at the grocery store! Make getting your pumpkin a real outing. We have more than 15 places where you can pick up your pumpkin with a little more fanfare – including face painting, hay rides and more.
- Haunted Houses. Get spooked at one of the many haunted houses around Atlanta. We have a great list of 19 to choose from. If you are looking for events on Halloween, the haunted houses are usually open. They range from gruesome to wholesome, so there’s sure to be one perfect for your crew.
- Haunted Corn Maze. For me, a haunted corn maze is even scarier than a haunted house! Maybe it was that creepy Children of the Corn movie I watched as a kid. Click through our list to find the right one near you.
- Corn Mazes. If you can’t stomach the haunted version, here is a list of corn mazes that are guaranteed to be fun for the whole family!

Celebrate the first day of fall at Overlook Park Pavilion for an event designed to create an opportunity for children with physical and developmental disabilities to have an inclusive experience with the community. Fall Fun for All will feature mid-way games, prizes, light snacks, refreshments, and maybe a surprise or two.
New this year explore our accessible corn maze and interact with the instrumental petting zoo. There will be live music, too! Although this is a free event, registration is required to manage capacity.
Activities will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Discover tiny fairy houses tucked throughout the Garden. Skyland Trail and Hillside Atlanta artists create these enchanting houses using moss, bark, twigs, branches, seed heads, leaves and other natural materials. With a map and hints provided by Woodlands, visitors can find fairy houses of all kinds — as well as ones belonging to trolls — tucked into sheltered nooks along the wooded trails and up above in the tree canopy! This free event was designed to help children of all ages recognize and appreciate the art that lies within nature.
Visitors are encouraged to wear fairy costumes, park off-site, and return often during the 2-week exhibit. Special programs requiring registration include a Labyrinth Building Workshop with Paint Love and fairy-themed guided walks with Tyke Hike.
This event takes place Saturday, October 8, 2022 to Saturday, October 22, 2022.
HOWL-O-WEEN AT GREAT WOLF LODGE (LAGRANGE)
Visit the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, GA, about 60 miles west of Atlanta, for their Howl-O-Ween event.
This indoor waterpark resort is an extra fun destination during the month of October. They offer lots of special experiences that are included with your stay — like a Trick or Treat Trail, Boo Bingo, Grab n’ Go Crafts, a Monster Bash Dance Party, and more!
PUMPKINS AT CALLAWAY (PINE MOUNTAIN)
Callaway Resort & Gardens is GLOWING with the newest signature event this fall: Pumpkins at Callaway. This family-friendly and non-spooky event will sure to become a beloved fall tradition for years to come!
The event will be filled with seasonally-themed experiences, entertaining glow elements, interactive games, dance parties, live entertainment, food & much more.
A Pumpkin Tree that sings and interacts with the audience stands at 50 feet tall, a 75-foot long glowing Pumpkin Tunnel lights the way to various attractions & roughly 3,000 intricately carved pumpkins take the spotlight throughout the end of October. One of the most notable features is a 700-foot Enchanted Forest filled with 7 different glowing scenes that are made up of larger-than-life, carved pumpkin masterpieces. Guests can also expect award-winning, live entertainment during the glow.
The Pumpkin Emporium includes coloring walls, pumpkin pie eating contests, Storytime, and the Spookley character meet and greet with photo opportunities. A Dance Party filled with giant inflatables and glow merchandise also takes place during the event. Other attractions guests can look forward to include Mini Golf Glow, Sunflower Lane and Pumpkin Art Gardens/Topiaries.
Walk through the sights before being transported by trolley to the brand-new corn maze and pumpkin patch.
PUMPKIN CLASS AT DECATUR GLASS BLOWING (DECATUR)
Get in the fall spirit by taking a Pumpkin Class at Decatur Glass Blowing.
Make your very own blown glass pumpkin (must be vaccinated), or make a solid pumpkin decoration — minus the blowing part. Their professional glassblowers will demonstrate making an item before working with you one-on-one to create your own piece. This would be such a fun way to celebrate the season!
RUN LIKE HELL 5K AT OAKLAND CEMETERY (ATLANTA)
The best 5K in Atlanta returns to Oakland Cemetery for the 15th annual Run Like Hell (live and virtual) 5K.
The largest cemetery run in the country, Run Like Hell is one of Atlanta’s favorite neighborhood 5K fundraisers, with all proceeds going to the restoration and preservation of Historic Oakland Cemetery. This year’s race returns with both a live and a virtual format, with an extended run to allow for physical distancing and expanded access.
The in-person portion of the 5K will take place at Oakland Cemetery on October 8, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. The race winds through the roadways of the historic cemetery and surrounding areas. The keyhole course is entirely paved and gently rolling with soft turns.
The virtual 5K will run from September 24 to October 7th. Runners can complete the 5K inside the cemetery or along any route that equals 5K any time between those dates, recording and submitting their times. A suggested 5K route map inside the cemetery will be provided for virtual runners wanting to have the real Run Like Hell experience.
Dress up for even more fun! Prizes will be awarded to the most creative costumes in the following categories: Best Adult Male, Best Adult Female, Best Group, Best Dog.
Although this is a Peachtree qualifier race, strollers, walkers and leashed dogs are welcome.
HAUNTED HALL OF FAME AT COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME (ATLANTA)
Experience the spooky sights and sounds of Halloween during the Haunted Hall of Fame Built by the Home Depot at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame.
Held on the following dates:
Saturday, October 29 from10 am to 5 pm
Sunday, October 30 from10 am to 5 pm
Monday, October 31 from10 am to 5 pm
Children can trick-or-treat throughout the Hall and fill their bags with candy all day. Trick or treat bags and candy will be distributed on a first come first serve basis, until inventory is depleted.
HALLOWEEN HALF MARATHON AT PIEDMONT PARK (ATLANTA)
After you’ve mastered the Run Like Hell, plan to push it to the limit with the Halloween Half Marathon at Piedmont Park. Costumes are encouraged and add to the fun.
It is not mandatory to run in costume; but they recommend that you do! Awards will be presented to the Top 3 in each age group category. There will also be prizes for participants with costumes that stand out!
Runners must be at least 13 years old to participate.
HALLOWEEN HIKES AT CHATTAHOOCHEE NATURE CENTER (ROSWELL)
Looking for something a little different? The Chattahoochee Nature Center hosts non-scary guided hikes along a lighted trail, which they call their Halloween Hikes. This year, Halloween hikes will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 21, 22, and 28, 29 | 6-10 p.m.
A guide will lead each group to meet costumed characters, including everyone’s favorites such as the Barred Owl, Kingfisher, and more during your 45-minute hike on a lighted trail. Don’t forget your costume!
ATLANTA HISTORY CENTER (ATLANTA)
The historic homes and gardens of the Atlanta History Center become a ghostly encounter during Haunted Halloween. Experience the fun after dark with kid-friendly activities.
Note: No information has yet been released about this event in 2022.
LITTLE FIVE POINTS HALLOWEEN PARADE
One of the best Halloween events in Atlanta is the Little 5 Points Halloween Parade, which takes place in the Little Five Points neighborhood of Atlanta during the Little Five Points Halloween Festival.
Little 5 Points is such an eclectic neighborhood in Atlanta, and the Halloween parade is just as much fun.
For the first time since 2018, the Little 5 Point Parade is back with a new route at a new time in 2022! It guarantees to be amazing.
ATLANTA BOTANICAL GARDENS
Throughout the month of October, the Scarecrows in the Garden come out at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
More than 100 kooky, creative scarecrows handcrafted by both professionals and nonprofessionals delight visitors. The family favorite is happening at the Midtown and Gainesville gardens.
TREETOP QUEST (BUFORD)
Go to Treetop Quest in Gwinnett at Buford for their special Fright Climb during this year’s spooky season!
Join Treetop Quest after hours for a nighttime excursion full of thrills. You’ll be guided by your headlamp (and the moonlight) as you explore the spooky forest canopy for 2 hours.
Sounds like the chance to get spooked is high! A minimum age of 15 is required for their Fright Climbs. This year, Fright Climbs will be offered on October 21 and 28, 2022.
This year, they’re also offering a fun “Spooktacular” event on October 14, 2022 for ages 10+. This not-so-spooky self-guided outdoor activity is a special event, and select levels and courses will be open.
WILD RUMPUS HALLOWEEN PARADE (ATHENS)
Known as Athens’ own Mardi Gras, the highly anticipated Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle is anything but ordinary. The Wild Rumpus is a large-scale crowd-participation Halloween holiday, music and arts celebration in downtown Athens. It is one of the Southeast’s premier Halloween celebrations and one of Athens’ most-loved festivals. The Wild Rumpus is FREE to attend, and All Are Invited.
The public is invited to dress in Halloween costume and march through the streets of The Classic City. The dazzling display of hand-crafted, wildly imaginative costuming is out of this world, and a highly unique experience.
This massive display of creativity, promoting self-expression in a safe and inviting environment, is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween!
Morgan Falls Dog Park will host the third annual dog socialization event, Paws, and Pastries! Spending time at the park helps keep a dog’s socialization skills in tip-top form and can wear out a busy pup.
The dog park features two fenced-in areas, one for smaller pups and one for larger dogs. There will be dog treats, tennis balls, water, and pastries! Please bring your own dog bowl and water to minimize sharing between dogs. The Paws and Pastries “pawty” is going to be “pawesome!”
Bring your pups and join in the fun on Saturday, October 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
MONSTER MOUTH HOUSE
The owner of a home in Stone Mountain decorates his home so elaborately each Halloween, it’s become somewhat of an immersive experience itself. What started as a passion project in 2017, has turned into something iconic. The homeowner, Kyle, was able to showcase his artistic talents to the people of Atlanta by creating out-of-this-world art installations for his trick-or-treaters every year.
Drive or walk by the home, known as Monster Mouth, and see the extravagant Halloween decorations. Once you see it, you’ll know how it earned its Monster Mouth title. The decor here has all been handcrafted by the family. Candy will be passed out as well.
Monster Mouth is located at 1483 Baron Ct., Stone Mountain, GA 30087. The display will be up for the entire month of October in 2022.
HALLOWEEN EVENTS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Wondering where to find Halloween events for young children? Here is a list for you that includes places where your little one can safely trick-or-treat.
It’s time for the City’s annual family-friendly event for young trick-or-treaters! You and your costume characters can join others at the Abernathy Greenway North for a not-so-frightful evening filled with the fun sights and sounds of Halloween! There will be trick-or-treating candy stations, a face painting station, photo op stations, and food trucks.
Activities and entertainment will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Learn more.
No Tricks….just TREATS!
Join in the family fun Halloween on THE ROOF! Bring the kids and get spooky with on Saturday, October 29th from 11 am-4 pm. Come in your best costumes, it’s going to be a fun-filled day!
Atlanta’s favorite fun family Halloween festival returns on Saturdays and Sundays, October 22, 23, 29, and 30, 2022, at Boo at the Zoo, presented by Georgia Natural Gas.
Boo-goers of all ages will enjoy seasonal fun in the home of more than 1,000 animals worldwide, spectacularly decorated for Halloween. Guests can sample sweet treats on Trick-or-Treat Lane, watch a Magic Illusion Show, meet strolling characters, and enjoy carnival games and crafts. Activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Family-friendly costumes are welcome and encouraged. Visit Boo at the Zoo for more information and costume guidelines.
Boo at the Zoo is free with general admission and for Zoo Atlanta Members and children under three.
SOUTHEASTERN RAILWAY MUSEUM (DULUTH)
All aboard for some Trick or Treat fun at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth!
The family-friendly event will be held on Oct. 22, 2022 and features trick-or-treating at decorated stations around the museum. Attendees 12 years and younger are eligible to participate in a costume contest.
The special event will also feature live music and visiting vendors from local businesses.
This event is included with regular admission.
PUMPKIN FESTIVAL AT STONE MOUNTAIN PARK (STONE MOUNTAIN)
Looking for a way to get in the Halloween spirit close to home? Then head to the Stone Mountain Park Pumpkin Festival!
Stone Mountain Park offers more than just their summertime Laser Show. In the fall, the park transforms into all things pumpkin! The Play by Day, Glow by Night Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain Park is a family-friendly weekend event that is sure to thrill family members and friends of all ages.
This year’s festival will be held on weekends from September 17 – October 30, 2022.
GOBLINS IN THE GARDEN AT ATLANTA BOTANICAL GARDENS
A fun-filled day of Halloween themed activities, crafts and stories at the Atlanta Botanical Garden will take place during Goblins in the Garden on Oct. 23, 2022. Show off the little ones’ Halloween costumes on the Goblin Runway!
Participate in fall family activities and enjoy train rides all while exploring Scarecrows in the Garden, too.
FRIGHT FEST AT SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA (AUSTELL)
Six Flags Over Georgia Fright Fest is back! Get ready for the best Halloween event of the season, featuring family-friendly shows and attractions during the day, and thrilling rides and scary haunted houses at night.
Although the evening activities may be a little much for little ones, the daytime is perfect! They’ll find costumed characters, candy, and a harvest festival just for them!
FERNBANK MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (ATLANTA)
Dinosaur trick-or-treat is back! Calling all Halloween lovers to Fernbank Museum on October 29, 2022 for a day of dinosaurs, music, and a fun Halloween party. Costumes are encouraged!
Another fun event is the Woodland Spirits in WildWoods at Fernbank. Wander through the outdoor areas of Fernbank Museum and see the ghostly sculptures by local Atlanta artist, Laura Lewis. The sculptures are really neat and worth a visit. This exhibit will be open from September 17 to November 6.
Spiders, skeletons, bats, and more spirits have taken over the Adventure Outpost in the WildWoods too, so your kids will have no choice but to get in the spirit.
HOWL ON THE GREEN AT DULUTH TOWN GREEN (DULUTH)
Bring kids and pets for an evening of fall fun on the Duluth Town Green. Howl On The Green is a family-friendly event. Bring your kids, friends and furry pets for a night filled of fun, sweet treats, great food and out-of-this-world entertainment on Duluth Town Green!
The event turns into fright at dark. Fire dancers make their way through the crowds as mystical creatures emerge, while aerialists hang from the Festival Center Stage and dancing iconic fairytale characters light up the night! This year’s event takes place on Oct. 29, 2022 from 5-9 p.m.
HALLOWEEN EVENTS FOR ADULTS
Halloween isn’t just for kids anymore. Adults are ready for a Halloween-y good time too! Here are some of the best Halloween events for adults.
CENTER FOR PUPPETRY ARTS (ATLANTA)
Some shows just can’t stay dead. The Ghastly Dreadfuls is a ghostly adult jamboree includes creepy stories, frightful songs, devilish dances and a whole lot of fun during the Halloween season.
This is one of my favorite shows from the Center for Puppetry Arts, and it’s a great way to do something a little different to get into the Halloween spirit with your adult friends this season.
Featuring classic Ghastly stories including The Girl in the New Dress, The 11:59 and The Horrific Experiment to tunes such as Mr. Ghost Goes to Town, and The Hoo-Doo Man, there’s something for everyone in this cavalcade of songs and stories from beyond the mortal plane.
Adults are encouraged to bring their most ghoulish friends, pull up a tombstone and enjoy The Ghastly Dreadfuls!
FERNBANK MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (ATLANTA)
Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble. Join Fernbank Museum for a spooky night filled with potions, poisons and murderous practitioners.
For souls 21-and-up, Fernbank After Dark: Science and Spirits will feature live music and access to special exhibits (including the Woodland Spirits), full museum and WildWoods explorations, and special Halloween-themed drinks.
Sharks lurk in the dark and piranhas prowl the waters. The Georgia Aquarium’s adults-only cocktail party takes a wicked turn in October at Sips Under the Sea: Halloween!
Experience exploring the galleries in a more intimate adult setting. Wear your favorite Halloween costume as you walk through our galleries, stop by the bar to grab a drink, and dance! The night is yours to enjoy!
Sips Under the Sea is a unique, themed cocktail party exclusively for adults 21 and older. This after-hours event features popular cocktails, dining options, a live DJ, and access to the Aquarium’s main galleries.
The award-winning Rocktoberfest returns to Lookout Mountain Saturday in October! The 16th annual German-themed harvest festival offers delicious new German food and a variety of themed entertainment.
Enjoy music, art, German food, and fun! Try beer-braised bratwursts with German potato salad and mustard, giant pretzels with beer cheese sauce, beer cheese soup bread bowls, Bavarian pork sandwiches with German-style kraut and a variety of Oktoberfest drinks.
Take a self-guided tour of the gardens during peak fall foliage and catch a Birds of Prey show featuring the amazing Rock City Raptors.
Pumpkin painting is also available! Souvenir pink birdhouses and other merchandise can be purchased to help raise funds for the CHI Memorial Foundation scholarship. This event has been selected as a Top 20 Event for 2021 by the Southeast Tourism Society!
Activities take place each Saturday in October from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Rock City Gardens.
MAGIC & MIXOLOGY AT THE FOUR SEASONS
Embark into a mystical evening of Magic & Mixology on Saturday, October 29 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta, where the close-up conjuring of Chris Moorman is choreographed with a hands-on mixology class led by Bar Margot’s head bartender, Nick Middlebrooks.
As part of this immersive experience, attendees will receive a welcome cocktail and a selection of Chef’s bites, to accompany the mesmerizing performance and cocktail-making session of two drinks. Middlebrooks will share his step-by-step instructions on how to mix and muddle Prohibition-Era classics to modern craft creations garnished with freshly harvested botanicals from the Hotel’s private Terrace Garden.

HALLOWEEN ON THE ROOF – 21+ Only
October 29th, from 5 pm to 12 am, is Halloween on The Roof! mystical fortune and magical cirque act set the stage at Ponce City Roof. Are you fascinated with the unfamiliar? Watch as they unleash their rooftop Voodoo Cirque performers to roam the rooftop with their immortal talent. Dare to try the Jell-O shots and sip on their Spooky Smash before you enter the costume contest with a grand prize valued at $1,000!

GEORGIA STATE PARKS
- Full Moon Hike at Tallulah Gorge. Hike to the suspension bridge at Tallulah Gorge and watch the moon rise above the gorge. Date: October 9, 2022
- Bay’s Bridge Hayride at Smithgall Woods. Come enjoy a guided hayride to the famous Bay’s Bridge. Hayrides will run continuously from 10 am to 3 pm. This is a perfect time for pictures and a great outing for the whole family! $5 plus $5 parking. Date: October 15, 2022
- Haunted Village at Hard Labor Creek. Visit the Spooky Haunted Village at Hard Labor Creek State Park for a family-friendly, slight-fright event. Walk through the village filled with scenes from your Halloween favorites, including an appearance by that hockey mask-wearing man from the movies. PG hours are from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. PG-13 hours are from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tours every 10 minutes. Date: October 22, 2022
- Haunted Hayride at Victoria Bryant. Visit Victoria Bryant State Park for their annual hayride event. They’ll have a hayride through the park, a decoration contest in the campground, a fall movie, costume contest, games, and great food. Last tickets for the hayride will be sold at 9 p.m. Date: Oct. 28 and 29, 2022 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
- Haunted Evening at A.H. Stephens. Join the park staff and Friends of A.H. Stephens for a fun evening full of ghoulish events. Activities include a haunted hayride, treats, movie on the lawn, games, and a campsite decorating contest for both RV and equestrian campers. Date: Oct. 29, 2022
- Tricks and Treats & Wagon Rides at Hard Labor Creek. Camp with Hard Labor Creek on the spookiest of nights! Participate in their Halloween events for all overnight guests. Kids will collect candy from RV to RV or from cabin to cabin. Campers are encouraged to decorate their sites and compete for the prize of most festive set up. Tour around the park on our decorated Conestoga wagon.
