5 Reasons You Will Fall In Love With Grayton Beach, Florida

Florida’s panhandle has some of the nicest beaches in the entire world. Parts of it is known as the Emerald Coast because of the shimmering green ocean. A lesser known spot in this area is Grayton Beach. Here are 5 reasons you should visit Grayton Beach.

Beach

The number one reason to visit Grayton Beach is definitely the beach itself. The sand is as soft and white as sugar and the color of the ocean is just amazing. The water is crystal clear with just a slight tint of emerald green.

This is the ultimate place to bring a good book or a radio and plan on just lying in the sand for the day. There is access to the beach from Grayton Beach State park, located just a few miles off Highway 98.  The state park has a nice restroom with flush toilets and showers. There is a small fee to enter the State Park.

Grayton Beach State Park also has a campground which is a great place to beach camp in Florida. The campground has an almost tropical jungle feel to it and is within walking distance to the beautiful beach.

Grayton

The town of Grayton is another very cute little fishing town. With a lot of outside seating available at the bars and restaurants in Grayton, you’ll be able to have a great meal and still smell the surf.

While camping at Grayton Beach State Park, the town of Grayton is just a short walk on the beach. Head this way to grab lunch or dinner or just to sightsee.

Destin and Panama City Beach

If you’re looking to stay out of the hustle and bustle of bigger cities and want to avoid the tourist traps that come along with that, Grayton Beach is a great place to stay.

However, Destin and Panama City Beach are just about a half hour drive away if you need some more action. There are pretty much endless things to do in both of these places and Destin is definitely one of our favorites.

Seaside

The town of Seaside is just a short drive from Grayton Beach. So short in fact, you can easily ride a bike to it. Seaside is usually busy with tourists, so not having to worry about parking is a huge benefit if you ride bikes.

Seaside is a very quaint, boutique kind of town.  It has several shops and restaurants with the most popular being the line of Airstream trailers serving everything from award winning bbq to gourmet grill cheese.

Interesting fact, Seaside is where the movie The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey was filmed back in the late 90’s.

Fishing

If you are into fishing, Grayton Beach is a great place to be. There is some pretty fantastic surf fishing and even if you don’t catch anything, you got to relax on the beautiful beach all day!

You can also do some deep sea fishing as there are plenty of charter boat companies near Grayton Beach. There’s nothing better than catching your own dinner and eating it fresh just a few hours after being caught.

Grayton Beach is a great spot to relax on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I definitely recommend checking it out!
