If you’ve ever wanted to hear a heartfelt story about trees, watch a play about a trailblazing scientist, or dive into Afrocentric science celebrations—all while eating your weight in snacks from a local coffee shop—then you’re in luck. The Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) is back, running through March 22, and it’s bringing over 100 events packed with brainy fun to venues all over the city.

Now, before you go picturing a snooze-fest of textbook lectures, let’s get one thing straight: ASF is anything but boring. This festival is for everyone—whether you can explain quantum physics in your sleep or just like watching things explode (safely, of course).
What’s Happening?
This year, the festival is all about giving science a voice—and not just one voice, but a whole choir of perspectives from different backgrounds, experiences, and communities. Here’s a taste of what’s coming up:
🌳 Storytelling Meets Science at The Story Collider: Trees
Imagine sitting in a cozy coffee shop, sipping something warm, and listening to true, personal stories about trees. Some might make you laugh. Some might make you cry. All will make you see the world a little differently. Hosted by The Story Collider in collaboration with Trees Atlanta, this event is a must for nature lovers and storytelling fans alike.
📍 Waller’s Coffee Shop, Decatur

🎭 A Fierce French Scientist Takes the Stage
History buffs and theater fans, this one’s for you. “Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight” tells the story of an 18th-century physicist and mathematician who smashed gender norms and left her mark on the scientific world. Bonus? There’s a free roundtable discussion featuring women in STEAM on March 15.
📍 7 Stages Theatre, Atlanta
📅 March 14-16 (ASF special performances)
🎟 $17.50-$35

🌍 Afro-STEAM: Celebrating Black Innovation
Science isn’t just rockets and robots—it’s art, medicine, and culture, too. The Afro-STEAM event highlights the contributions of Black and African scientists throughout history, with hands-on activities, interactive presentations, and live demonstrations. Perfect for families and curious minds of all ages.

🎡 A Science Carnival at Georgia Gwinnett College
Expect a high-energy, carnival-style event filled with live experiments, STEM challenges, and all kinds of wild, hands-on science fun at Hot Topic: Cool Sciences. You might even learn a thing or two while having a blast.
📍 Georgia Gwinnett College, Lawrenceville
📅 March 15, 1-4 PM

🎉 The Grand Finale: The Exploration Expo
If you only make it to one event, make it this one. The Exploration Expo is the festival’s biggest event, taking over Piedmont Park with interactive booths, science demos, and a special exhibit from Delta Air Lines showcasing the women who help keep planes in the sky.
📍 Piedmont Park
📅 March 22, 10 AM – 4 PM
