Fernbank Museum is about to be overrun with spiders…and you’re going to want to be there for it!
Come eye-to-eyes with over 250 real and preserved spider specimens in Fernbank Museum’s new exhibit Spiders — From Fear to Fascination. Explore interactive elements, live and preserved spiders, dioramas, digital displays and more as you crawl your way through the fascinating world of these often-misunderstood arachnids.
On view from February 10 – May 5, 2024, Spiders – From Fear to Fascination will help guests gain a web of knowledge about spider anatomy, reproduction and growth, webs and silk, spider senses, and much more.
Using the latest in augmented reality technology to create a fully immersive experience, guests will see what it’s like to walk through hundreds of scattering spiders along a glowing forest floor, compete in a mating dance-off with a jumping peacock spider and more.
Live spiders are also displayed throughout the exhibition, giving audiences an opportunity to see spiders that they may not encounter in day-to-day life up close, including the infamously venomous Black Widow.
As a special treat, a Spider Spectacle event will be held on Saturday, February 10 in the Great Hall to celebrate the opening of the exhibit. From 10am-1pm, you’ll find themed activities like testing your web-building skills, creating your own spider and meeting Fernbank’s tarantula ambassador, Travis. The Spider Spectacle event is included with your general admission ticket.
You know we just love Fernbank Museum, and Spiders – From Fear to Fascination is just the latest exhibit visiting this Atlanta spot. In addition to this new exhibition, you’ll also find all the awesome permanent exhibits that make Fernbank so great, like A Walk Through Time in Georgia, Giants of the Mesozoic, Fantastic Forces, NatureQuest, and of course…WildWoods and Fernbank Forest.
Have a creepy, crawly great time!
