Get ready, Atlanta! The Atlanta Science Festival’s Exploration Expo is coming to Piedmont Park, and it’s bringing lots of FREE fun along with it!
The Atlanta Science Festival is a popular event held each year that cannot be missed. This annual celebration of learning and STEM career opportunities features 100+ events over the course of two weeks. This year you’ll find events happening from March 9-23.
One of most popular Atlanta Science Festival events is the Exploration Expo held at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. On Saturday, March 23 from 10am-5pm you’ll find so much scientific fun!
Control a prosthetic hand with your mind! Perform DNA extraction! Code robots through mazes! Dig for bones! Touch a human brain! Look inside a jet engine! Meet frogs, lizards, snakes… and scientists!
You’ll find 100 hands-on and interactive science booths at the Exploration Expo. The best part? Entrance to the festival is FREE!
One of the most popular events at the Expo is the Pink Ping-Pong Big-Bang! At precisely 12pm, thousands of pink ping-pong balls will launch into the skies, heralding the day’s science celebrations. Make sure to join in the countdown to the Pink Ping-Pong Big-Bang in The Meadow.
With so much to see and do — you may want to spend the whole day. Food and drink will be available for purchase on site from a variety of food trucks and vendors, and complimentary water will be available at stations throughout the Expo. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket!
The Expo will take place in Piedmont Park near the intersection of 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive, and they strongly suggest you use MARTA, ride shares, the BeltLine etc. You can find parking options here. In past years, the festival has drawn up to 20,000 people…so plan accordingly!
Other things to note…
- This event will happen rain or shine! In case of severe weather, their social media channels will have updated info.
- No pets are allowed.
