The blockbuster is back. Imaginary Worlds returns with all new giant living plant sculptures sure to bring a smile as they take visitors on a fantasy journey throughout the Atlanta Botanical Garden, both at the Midtown and Gainesville locations. The stories of Winnie-the-Pooh—a much-loved bear with a weakness for honey—have delighted both children and adults for more than ninety years. Generations of readers have been captivated by the adventures of Christopher Robin and his bear, and today Pooh remains one of the most popular children’s characters of all time. This exhibition, organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, explores the history and legacy of Pooh through original sketches, photographs, memorabilia, and letters. The exhibition also includes interactive elements that bring Shepard’s illustrations to life.
Come ready to catch some fish at this years Youth Fishing Derby. The derby is for children age 4 to 12 years (must be accompanied by an adult). This program is free, however space is limited around the lake, so make sure to pre-register. The lake will be fully stocked with catfish so make sure to bring plenty of night crawlers and worms to catch a lot of fish!

This National Get Outdoors Day, invigorate your senses and explore the 3,000 acres of outdoor beauty at Georgia’s Barnsley Resort with a specialty outdoors Geocaching Competition. The Northwest Georgia resort is encouraging guests and locals alike to spend some time in the sunshine and get a little dirt on their boots with a geocaching competition that takes them on a journey throughout the Barnsley Barnyard, hiking trails, golf course, historic gardens, Manor House Ruins, picturesque ponds and more. On June 9, locals are invited to find and record a secret code found at each cache location, found by using GPS devices or apps available for smartphones. On Sunday, June 10, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is activating 3.6 miles of Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road for Atlanta Streets Alive – Westside, connecting Atlanta’s Downtown attractions to the bustling Westside and up to Underwood Hills. From 4:00 to 8:00 pm, the street will be closed to cars and open for people to walk, roll, bike and play! The fun kicks off Downtown, at the intersection of Marietta Street and Peachtree Street where you can join in the official opening of the street followed by a parade of the route. Parade lineup is at 3:30 pm for a 4:00 pm launch. FREE bike decorations available while supplies last! After the opening program and kickoff parade Downtown, make your way through nine neighborhoods visiting Activity Partners and Route Hosts along the route for a wealth of interactive experiences hosted by community organizations, local businesses and our sponsors. You can also enter or exit the route at any cross street at any time during the four-hour activation. Atlanta Streets Alive is FREE and fun for all ages. Have the time of your life on the Woodruff Park Main Lawn, where Dirty Dancing will be screened at sundown (for free!). In this workshop, everyone will participate in mixing and prepping Jalapeno Cheddar or Honey Oat bread (your choice ahead of time!).
