From July 7 through December 1, 2018, Art on the Atlanta BeltLine will host the photography exhibition “Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement, 1944-1968,” curated by historian and author Karcheik Sims-Alvarado, Ph.D. The photography is sourced from Dr. Sims-Alvarado’s book Images of America: Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement, 1944-1968 (Arcadia Publishing, 2017). “Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement, 1944-1968” will be presented across four miles of the Eastside and Westside Trails, making it the longest outdoor exhibition on civil and human rights in the United States.

Parliament of Owls is an owl themed lantern parade based in community participation. Everyone is invited to make an owl lantern and walk in the parade! The owls are white, the attire is black. Make your own owl lantern or take an owl lantern workshop or pick up an owl lantern kit or free mask! We will gather at the Promenade II Building at 1230 Peachtree St. NE at 8:30pm and take flight at 9:15pm. We’ll walk to the Piazza at the High Museum, then to the sidewalk on Peachtree Street and up to 14th Street. We’ll cross Peachtree for a finale at Colony Square Plaza. Owls are invited to roost on the veranda of the Castle afterward!
Spend the afternoon with Farmview Butcher Glen Wellman and his team learning and using Farmview’s step-by-step process of making sausage blends, working with different types of casings and cooking methods with a focus on brats and other sausages well-suited to grilling— just in time for tailgating season!
You will take home 2 lbs. of sausage after practicing the techniques of sausage-making in an intimate setting.

The 3rd annual Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown is Atlanta’s premier festival celebrating unique takes on the Southern staple, produced by Taste of Atlanta and sponsored by Big Green Egg and Springer Mountain Farms.
The event features all-you-can-eat bites from 35 chefs across the Southeast, including Pat Pascarella of The White Bull in Atlanta, Daniel Doyle of Poogan’s Smokehouse in Charleston, and Duane Nutter of The Southern National in Mobile. Each participating chef will serve their unique recipe for best wing.
Tickets include all food samplings, wine, beer, cocktail samples, live music by local musician Alex Guthrie, and other games.
Nonprofit beneficiaries include Angel Flight Soars, a volunteer pilot organization that provides flight services to patients in need of medical-related care, and Second Helpings Atlanta, a food rescue organization that fights hunger and reduces food waste in the city.

The Chastain Arts Center and Gallery is pleased to announce its 50th Anniversary Celebration, a creative family event for all ages. The Piedmont Park Summer Arts Festival is a 2-day outdoor event with an emphasis on the visual arts and family fun presented by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, for people of all ages, races, customs, and interests.
