Calling all nature lovers! Fernbank Museum of Natural History wants your help with the Atlanta City Nature Challenge.

The Atlanta City Nature Challenge is a great way to get enjoy time in nature and help give insight into the biodiversity of the city using the iNaturalist app.
Best part? Participation in the program is easy (and FREE)!
All you have to do is get outside in any local green space — including Fernbank Museum’s Fernbank Forest, or even your own backyard — between April 25 – 28, 2025, and snap photos of nature using the iNaturalist app. That’s it! Fernbank is hoping to help Atlanta become recognized as the most well-documented city for biodiversity.
And don’t worry is you don’t know what plant you’re seeing — other users of the app will be able to help identify your images. For those who are more practiced nature enthusiasts, there is an opportunity to help ID anything that you personally recognize for others.
This is a great for all ages, and you’re sure to learn something along the way.
