If you’re looking for a unique date night experience, then you’ve got to learn more about Sips Under The Sea at Georgia Aquarium. It’s not your average “adult-night” at a local attraction. It’s a fierce, energetic and distinct way to spend your Friday night! Here are the five easy steps you need to make this happen!
Step 1: Secure Your Tickets
For the ideal Ga Aquarium date night, you’ll want tickets to Sips Under The Sea! A word of warning, though, these coveted tickets are snapped up in a hurry! Be sure to get your tickets NOW.
This perfectly themed 21+ event only happens periodically, and it is so much fun!
You’ll enjoy amazing décor, live music, signature cocktails, yummy small plates, and run of the aquarium…all without kiddos!
Here are the remaining 2017 dates and themes:
- March 16, 2018 – Back to the 90s
- May 11, 2018 – Prom Night
- August 24, 2018 – Tailgate Party
- October 26, 2018 – Monster Mash
- SAVE THE DATE December 31, 2017 – New Year’s Eve Black and White Party (tickets on sale soon)
Tickets are never available at the door (and they’re usually sold out before then, anyway.)
Your GA ticket is $19.95 for members/$28.95 for non-members…it gives you access to the awesome party, as well as to the cash bars and tapas.
VIP ticket includes all the same plus two drinks and two small plates each. It is $24.95 for members/$48.95 for non-members. That’s a no-brainer for members!
Step 2: Decide where to over-night
Of course, you don’t have to make it an overnight date, but you’re already out…you have the sitter…the night is young….
My favorite option is the VIP Admission and Overnight Combo ticket! In addition to the above-mentioned VIP access to Sips Under The Sea, you can camp out in one of the breathtaking exhibits within the aquarium!
If camping next to the beluga whales is not your thing, then consider a hotel package with one of the aquarium’s preferred partners. We love Loews Atlanta, Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, and Hyatt Regency Atlanta…but there are plenty more to choose from here.
Step 3: Enjoy the appys, but still make dinner reservations
There will be tapas available for purchase at the aquarium, but you can also start your evening with a light meal before the main event at one of the nearby restaurants.
Be sure to make reservations, though, because you won’t want to miss any of the fun at the Aquarium party. Doors open for VIPs at 6pm, and for general admission guests at 7pm.
Our favorite date night restaurants around the aquarium include:
Legal Sea Foods – great seafood that you know high quality, using sustainable fishing methods.
Ray’s In The City –Another outstanding seafood option from the Killer Concepts group.
Twin Smoker’s BBQ – More casual and always delicious, try this Texas-style BBQ haunt.
Step 4: Plan your outfit
You heard me say this was a themed party, right? Sure, you can show up in your typical date-night garb…but why not go all out??
We want to see your brightest fiesta colors at the Cince de Mayo party – colors that sing, “¡Viva Mexico!”
For the Glow in the Dark party, consider using glow-in-the-dark paint to decorate a shirt, light up toys fashioned into jewelry, or black-light makeup and body art!
You get the idea, right?? And don’t be scared to go all out!! Everyone dresses up at the Georgia Aquarium Sips Shindigs!
Step 5: Have A Backup Plan
Can’t make Sips Under The Sea for your date night excitement? No worries! We’ve got you covered!
Use Imagination Nights as your date night excuse….either with your sweet – or with the entire family (we love Family Date Nights every once in a while.)
Imagination Nights offers discounted tickets after a 4pm entry Thursday – Saturday. Tickets are priced at over 30% cheaper than regular admission tickets AND you get 10% off dinner at Café Aquaria. (Side note…as of this writing Café Aquaria is undergoing renovations, but there are still temporary food stalls set up around the bottom floor level for taming your hunger pangs!)
If you are visiting on a Friday night, you’ll also enjoy live music and cash bars, for an even more special atmosphere!
