Amicalola Falls Lodge for a Weekend of Waterfall Excitement

Our family recently spent the weekend in the mountains, using Amicalola Falls Lodge as home base. We adore Amicalola Falls State Park and are frequent visitors, but this was our first time staying at the Lodge. The gigantic windows in the lobby overlooking the mountains and the loft area in the room were both big hits with the boys!2015-06-13 20.52.58-1

THE ROOM

The main area of the room included two queen beds. There was also an armoire for clothes, a large flat panel TV on the wall, and a nook with a table and chair. Two oversized windows faced the mountains, with breathtaking views especially at dawn and dusk.

The best part (ok, besides the view) was the loft.  A ladder leads you to a platform with another bed with a side table and lamp. My 7 year old slept here both nights, and was in heaven.

The bathroom was family-friendly, as well, with a full-sized shower/tub.

There are six loft rooms like this in the lodge. Additionally, you’ll find 40 double rooms, 6 king rooms, 3 junior suites and an executive suite.

Also at Amicalola State Park, you’ll find 14 cabins and 14 cottages, 25 campsites and 20 rooms at the Len Foote Hike Inn (best family adventure ever!!)

AMENITIES AND FACILITIES

The Lodge includes a full-service restaurant and free Wi-Fi.

The Park, of course, has an incredible waterfall reaching 720 feet. You’ll also find plenty of hiking opportunities for all levels, including access to Springer Mountain which is the start of the Appalachian Trail.

If you want to add additional excursions to your adventure – archery lessons, fly-fishing lessons, survivalist camping and more – then try the Adventure Lodge Package.

LOCATION

Amicalola Falls is in Dawsonville, between Ellijay (great for apple season) and Dahlonega (gold panning and wineries.) While visiting, we spent the weekend exploring Dahlonega. Come back soon for links to that family-friendly itinerary.
