Destin, Florida is quickly becoming a vacation hotspot for the beautiful white sand beaches they have. Along with those beaches, they also have some of the best activities and dining that you can find. Here are 5 amazing choices to visit for lunch or dinner while in Destin.
If you’re looking for some really tasty food and a very fun atmosphere, LuLu’s is the place to be. This is Lucy Buffett’s (Jimmy’s sister) second restaurant, with the original being in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Make no mistake, their Destin restaurant is no second fiddle! They offer a fabulous menu with great burgers, salads, and entrees. They are also very diet-friendly, meaning if you have a particular food allergy or are vegetarian or vegan, not only do they have several delicious options for you, they prepare it totally separate from their regular dishes so you know your food will be allergen-free.
They also have a great beach just outside the back of the restaurant with seating available out there as well. This was perfect for our family as our kids can’t sit still while the food is being cooked.
In addition to great food, they also have a full service bar and their own beer which is delicious!
Another wild place to eat is Fudpuckers. They have an onsite alligator exhibit that you can check out for free. There is a large swamp-like habitat just outside the restaurant doors that is home to several gators!
You can also check out their albino alligator, Pearl, which is a very rare breed. This was a great way to keep our kids occupied while waiting for our food.
Speaking of kids, Fudpuckers was created for families. Along with the alligator exhibit, they also have a large playground and game room with some really cool arcade games. With all this action, it may be hard to get them to sit still to eat!
Destin has some of the best beaches in the United States. What better way to enjoy that than by having lunch right on the beach? Surf Hut is right on the white sand and has several deck-side tables for outside seating options.
We loved walking on the white sand beach to Surf Hut for lunch or to grab a drink at Happy Hour. They have plenty of delicious options for food as well as a full bar.
The other thing we loved about Surf Hut is that they serve kids meals on frisbees rather than plates, so we had fun tossing that around after we finished eating.
If you’re looking to have some great food, cold beer and a competitive round of bowling with your family, check out Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill.
Located inside the Bass Pro Shop in Destin, you’ll find this fun bar and grill restaurant.
Order some tasty food ranging from pizza to fresh seafood, then get queued up on a lane for some family bowling fun!
The restaurant is decorated as if you are inside a fishbowl, which is really cool. We had some great food and great fun at Uncle Buck’s!
If you’re looking for a fancier sit-down style restaurant, give Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse a try. We visited there when my family met us in Destin for a week. My dad really had the taste for a good steak, even though he know’s we are vegetarian and have been for years.
I didn’t really know what to expect when heading to Ruth’s Chris, but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options they had. They were mainly side dishes, but we were able pick a few and share them. They all tasted fantastic and was more than enough to eat.
My dad loved his steak and everyone else thought the food was delicious. Along with great tasting food and flavor-filled steaks, Ruth’s Chris has a great wine selection. I had a Pinot Noir that was to die for.
Whether you’re looking to sit beach side for a burger or have a 3 course meal, Destin has what you are looking for. I hope these suggestions help you the next time you’re in Destin and looking to make dinner plans!
