Hyatt is a premier brand in Georgia and around the world; their Atlanta locations are no exception. After staying at Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead and now Hyatt Regency Atlanta, we have come to love the consistently high level of customer service, elegant suites and delicious food and drink. If you are looking for a place to stay in Downtown Atlanta, I sincerely recommend Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Here are three reasons it is the perfect choice.
Heavenly Food Options
While last weekend was our first time staying at Hyatt Regency Atlanta, it was not our first visit. Polaris, which sits atop the hotel, is one of our favorite restaurants in the state. The restaurant originally opened in 1967 as the city’s first rooftop dining option, but then closed for nearly a decade. We had the honor of joining them earlier this year for the First Anniversary of their reopening.
Clever cocktails and delicious small plates and meals taste even better from the rotating blue dome. During this visit we shared a Meat & Cheese Plate while enjoying cocktails like the famous Polaris Peach Daquiri and the BPC (a Polaris blend bourbon, pineapple, cherry, spiced bitters and lime.) Hubs opted for the Bitter Sweet, another example from their creative drink menu. Dark Rum, Milk Stout, Rooftop Honey, Walnut Bitters and espresso combine into an AMAZING cocktail!
For dinner we devoured duck confit pasta (me) and tandoori chicken (hubs.) The multicolored, hand-rolled pasta was rich in flavor, and the chicken’s cucumber riata and curried eggplant were divine!
(Stay tuned for our full post on Polaris later this month.)
If you want something more casual, opt for a meal at Sway. They serve seasonal, southern meals with huge portions! Thrillest named Sway one of the best places to eat Fried Chicken. I’ve eaten lunch here a few times, and the blackend tuna salad is my go-to healthy choice. Market is also great for the entire family, with grab-and-go options 24-hours a day, including Starbucks coffee.
Gorgeous Crown Suite
When you’re traveling with the family, a suite is always the best option. Hyatt Regency Atlanta raises the bar with their gorgeous suite, filled with extras. I know, I know. It’s a tad more pricey than their (still luxurious) standard room, but in my opinion it is worth the upgrade.
The suite is technically two rooms, plus a bathroom, but with 400 sq feet and a genius layout it feels like home. You’ll walk into a foyer with space for shoes and bags. From there you enter a “kitchen” space and dining area. The kitchen includes a sink, mini fridge and wine cooler, coffee maker and microwave.
It’s adjacent to the office space. The desk includes an Apple workstation and printer, and plenty of space to meet any pressing deadlines. In the living area you are greeted with a warm red, plush sectional, 32” mounted flat screen and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to a patio overlooking downtown. It’s sleek and modern, yet comfy and cozy.
Our bedroom boasted a dreamy king bed, but you can also stay in a suite with two double beds. There is another flat-panel TV, more floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead to a second patio, a walk-in closet and access to the bathroom. The bathroom is pure heaven, with a TV-in-mirror display and a large shower. The oversized soft towels were my best friend.
The room also afforded us access to the Regency Club. Regency Club accommodations are located on a restricted-access floor and include a private Concierge, Continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres in a private lounge.
In and around the hotel
With a seasonal pool and free Wi-Fi, you may never want to leave your suite. I don’t blame you. But don’t forget, you’re in the heart of the city! It’s an easy walk to some of Atlanta’s most beloved attractions: Ga Aquarium, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, World of Coca Cola, Center for Civil and Human Rights, College Football Hall of Fame and the Atlanta Streetcar (that is free through 2015.)
Whether you visiting from out of town, or enjoying a mini staycation or (like we did) taking a night away from the kids to recharge, Hyatt Regency Atlanta is the ideal hotel for your downtown stay. Luxurious suites, delectable dining and easy access to the Downtown attractions make it a must.
Disclosure: Thank you to Hyatt Regency Atlanta for the complementary stay. We absolutely adore Atlanta’s Hyatt hotels and the opinions here are all my own.
